Wildseed, San Francisco

Trendy Plant Based Food in the City! Why did we dine here? – Wildseed’s motto is Work out, Veg Out. A trendy new 100% plant based vegan (No eggs!) restaurant in the Union street shopping district from the Back of the House Group (a Mano, Lolinda, Delarosa, Beretta, Super Duper, etc). They also have a location in Palo Alto’s Town and Country Center. We have dined at both locations.

Wildseed San Francisco interior decor

Perfect spot for the crowds that the Marina is known for. (I reminisce about Prego that was in this spot in the 90’s!) The restaurant was fairly new and already packed.

Summary – Wildseed’s food did not leave us wanted a steak afterwards. Hearty and satisfying. The service rushed us along on one visit, the other one had sluggish service. Save money by eating in the bar during happy hour.

Food Picks:

Wildseed San Francisco ceviche

Ceviche Of King Trumpet Mushrooms ($11) leche de tigre, avocado, mango and seeded chips was recommended by our server. The sliced mushrooms soaked up the flavor and did not even taste like mushrooms. Nice crispy chip. On the spicy side. (7/10)

Wildseed San Francisco curry

Spicy Yellow Curry ($19) ginger, turmeric, Thai basil, root vegetables, chard, eggplant, forbidden rice was also a fairly spicy dish. Very nice rice and rich coconut broth. Eggplant didn’t really taste it should! (7.5/10)

Wildseed San Francisco rigatoni bolognese

Rigatoni Bolognese ($16) mushrooms, ground Impossible fake meat, chard, parmesan (cg) plus sub gluten free penne $2 – Look like a normal rigatoni. Not a lot of meat, but nicely done pasta. Large portion size. (7/10)

Wildseed San Francisco Chocolate cake tropicali

Warm Chocolate Cake ($12) beet and chaga, Gio’s chocolate gelato, coco nibs (cg) is surprisingly like those decadent molten chocolate cakes. Half baked cake with really nice gelato. (8/10)

Passion For Melons ($8) harvest peak sharlyn, canary, cantaloupe melons, passion fruit sorbet was a nice tropical mix of fruits and sorbet. Smooth and mellow. (7.5/10)

I got ube ($14) was a fair dessert. Not a lot of flavor. 7/10

Just OK:

Wildseed San Francisco Reset Salad

The Reset Salad ($14) kale, frisee, beets, cucumber, green beans, sprouted nuts and seeds with turmeric, black pepper vinaigrette is fine, but why get a normal salad when you have lots of other options? (6.5/10)

Wildseed San Francisco beet poke

Beet Poke ($9) macadamia, baby cucumbers, ponzu, sesame & seaweed crackers was average, nothing special (6/10)

Would not reorder:
Mojito ($11) was not particular great. Not much flavor (4/10)
