Boneka is a restaurant in the posh St. Regis Hotel on Bali. We were in paradise and told by a friend that we had to try it. High end Sunday Brunch Buffet? We are there! This hotel is awesome, there would be no way we could afford to stay here.
We are fans of upscale buffets, not to overindulge in excess, but to have fun sampling a large cross section of fine foods. This buffet was a nice change of pace from our boring hotel’s breakfast buffet and all the Balinese food we had.
Decor, Vibe – St. Regis Boneka is an elegant room with colorful decor, live music, and a beautiful center piece. Lots of tourists along with some well-heeled locals were present.
Menu
The St. Regis Bali Sunday Brunch Buffet allows you to order off a special menu. Something that exists in many of the other top buffets around the world like our favorite, Conrad in Hong Kong.
There menu included 8 different egg dishes including Foie Gras (fair) and eggs, Wagyu Beef (OK) and eggs. We didn’t feel like eggs so we told them to give us some Foie Gras. They brought around pork belly, which was pretty darn good.
Chef’s cooked to order creations included Croissant French Toast, Deep fried Banana, Belgium crispy waffles or pancakes, Duo of oysters, Veal liver spread, Nasi Goreng (the best we had on the island), Mie Goreng. They also had 3 fruit and yogurt creations.
Drinks included 13 different juices and 6 different types of smoothies.
Unlimited Champagne was also available at higher cost.
Salad and appetizers: Fresh Fruit, Salads, deli meats, Roast Beef Salad, Prawn cocktail, exotic fruit salad, Greek salad, Tomato Gazpacho, Chicken Pastrami & Egg Sandwich
Seafood: freshly shucked huge oysters, Caviar, Foie Gras Terrine.
A good selection of dim sum of reasonable quality, but not top notch.
Mixed Bircher Muesli and 3 kinds of yogurt.
Freshly cut sashimi and sushi.
Rice porridge with many mix-ins. Miso Soup.
Lots of prepared hot foods including seafood, Balinese food, Beef glazed Teriyaki, vegetables in oyster sauce, Lengko Cirebon, Lamb Stew, Tuna Pork Ragout, Chicken Medallion
Bread, Rolls, Croissants and Pastries.
Simple Cheese cart with 6 kinds of fine cheeses from around the world. Lots of fruit and bread to go with it.
Dessert puddings, Black Forest cakes, Freisier, chocolate mousse, creme brulee, tarts, fresh seasonal fruit, macaroons, chocolates, and more. Tempura ice cream was freshly made.
Three kinds of premium ice cream.
A Chocolate fountain with a wide variety of dipping instruments.
Interestingly, they could have had more Balinese dishes and seafood.
Service – St Regis Boneka Brunch Buffet had excellent service that is one of the best we’ve experienced at a buffet. They had many servers constantly roaming around.
Value – At US$52, St Regis Boneka Brunch is cheap, and offers maximum value in its variety, and quality food. As a bonus, you get to visit this beautiful hotel that many people call the best in Bali.
Alternatives – We don’t know of any other high end buffets in Bali. Can you help here?
Verdict – St Regis Boneka Brunch Buffet was a great experience and a good value. We’ve been to many superior buffets, but this one has style and excellent service. Give this a try when you are on this beautiful island.
