Twelvemonth, Burlingame

Why did we dine here? – Twelvemonth is a new plant-based vegan restaurant in downtown Burlingame. It has been hotly anticipated as there are no such restaurants in this area. We had to previously drive to SF or Palo Alto to get quality vegetarian food. We have dined here multiple times with the last in summer 2024.

They added a bakery, Twelvemonth Bakehouse that is open Thursday – Saturday 8am – Noon. Sundays at the Burlingame Fresh Market Lots of plant based items you do not see elsewhere!

Twelvemonth Burlingame interior decor inside

Be sure to check out our review of Encanto, Lisbon for the best vegetarian restaurant we’ve been to. Also Eleven Madison Park, New York for the best vegetarian restaurant in the USA.

Insider Tip – Make reservations

Cuisine – American Vegan
Location – Downtown Burlingame
Opened – 2023

The interior is tastefully redone from the previous brewery days and full of unique custom touches. Beautiful separate bar area. Large outdoor patio for when the weather gets better.

The Twelvemonth menu is fairly concise, with several clearly market options for gluten sensitive folks It has several small plates, and then a selection of larger ones. Food is designed to be shared family style. Of Note, no impossible or beyond meat dishes unlike Wildseed.  They change the menu seasonally, so some items below may no longer be present.  In mid-2024 all the Mains were now gluten free!

The food was very good, inventive, and not what most people expect (Salad, pure veggies!) when they come to vegan restaurants. Carnivores should be satisfied with their food. Do not equate vegetarian with bland healthy fare, this food is rich and filling.

Restaurants in this modern plant based genre include Wildseed of San Francisco and Palo Alto, Italian oriented Baia and Japanese Shizen in San Francisco. Old school Greens and Millenium. On our recent trip to Madrid and Portugal, we found so many more vegetarian restaurants than the US.

Service was solid for this calibur of restaurant, lots of folks coming by to check on us but slid downhill towards the end.

Twelvemonth Food Review

We have dined here several time and tried most dishes.
