Lots of local food trucks and Hawaiian favorites. We did not dine in once! None of these requires reservations.

Star Noodle, Lahaina, Maui
Posted on January 1, 2022Why did we dine here? – Star Noodle is a popular Asian restaurant on Maui focusing on a variety of noodle dishes that originate from Japan through other Asian countries. We have been here on all our recent Maui visits.
They moved to downtown Lahaina in November 2020, and are known as Star Noodle v2. Star Noodle also does takeout but you need to call it in early. Parking lot is part of the new location!
Oahu, Hawaii & Honolulu Restaurant Reviews
Posted on June 19, 2021Hanauma Bay
We visited Oahu, Hawaii and chronicled our eating journey throughout the island including downtown Honolulu. It was her first time back in decades and we found the food much improved. Our May 2020 trip was during the pandemic, so many spots only offered takeout.
Sansei Japanese Restaurant, Maui
Posted on April 11, 2019Why did we dine here? – Sansei Hawaii is a well known Japanese Seafood Restaurant with locations at Kihei and Kapalua, Maui, Oahu, and the big Island – Hawaii.
Merrimans, Kapalua Maui
Posted on June 6, 2016Why did we dine here? – Merrimans is a popular restaurant on Maui, perfectly situated on the coast by the beautiful Kapalua Beach. It is well reviewed and we were playing at the beach next door, so it was high time to try this place. This restaurant also has locations on the Big Island, and Kauai. The same owner runs the more casual Monkeypod Kitchen.
Lanai Restaurant Reviews
Posted on August 25, 2014Lanai has been on our must visit lists for a while. We finally got a chance to visit this tropical paradise in April 2014.
The easiest and cheapest way to arrive is by ferry from Maui. The fare is a reasonable $60 round trip. Frankly we saw more dolphins, flying fish, and whales riding this ferry than we did on a whale watching tour!
There are two Four Seasons Resorts on the island along with a small Lanai Hotel. We stayed in the Four Season Manele Bay, right on the beach. (Why would you want to stay at the other one?) One beautiful resort and priced a couple hundred less than the Four Seasons Maui. Lanai City is a small plantation town in a timewarp to the 70’s. A tiny place with a small town square. Here are 3 places we ate in between all the chilling.

Lahaina Grill, Maui Restaurant Review
Posted on June 23, 2014Why did we dine here? – Lahaina Grill is one of the most popular high end restaurants in the touristy part of Lahaina, Maui. It definitely has a great repuation, and is situated in the midst of a ton of tourist traps. Foodies regularly recommend this restaurant, so we had high hopes. This place fills up fast, so you need to make reservations ahead of time or have to sit at the bar.
Ko Restaurant Review, Wailea, Maui
Posted on June 9, 2014Why did we dine here? – We were staying at the Fairmont on Maui, so it was natural to eat at restaurant Ko. We had originally sought to eat elsewhere, but jet lag make
it far easier to stay put. A beautiful room, tropical sea breeze flowing, a view open to the pool with live modern Jazz playing.
Executive Chef Tylun Pang was Voted 2013 Maui Restaurant of the Year.
Insider Tip – Happy Hour 3-5pm with drink and pupu specials is cheaper!
The Plantation House Restaurant Review, Kapalua, Maui
Posted on May 5, 2014Why did we dine here? – The Plantation House is a fine dining restaurant next to a golf course on Maui in the posh Kapalua area, not far from the Ritz Carlton. Chef Jojo uses local food whenever possible and tries to serve modern interpretations of classic island inspired cuisine. He used to cook at Banyan Tree and Morimoto Waikiki.
