Unlimited high quality dim sum lunch for $12? Wow!
Shang Palace is located in the Shangri-La hotel in beautiful Guilin, China. Guilin is famous for its unique scenery featuring beautiful limestone rock formations and the Li river delta. This area is a mecca for Chinese tourists and needs to be one more Western travel destinations.

Why did we dine here? – We were staying at this hotel and had dined at Michelin starred restaurant, Shang Palace in Hong Kong, so we decided to give this place a try.
Summary – Shang Palace serves up solid Chinese food in an elegant environment. Their lunch dim sum all-you-can-eat meal at ¥78 (US$12)is a steal, while their dinner items are professionally prepared.
Insider Tip – Yes, we try to avoid hotel restaurants (especially ones that list 4 types of cuisine!), but this one is pretty darn good for both lunch and dinner.
Cuisine – Chinese Cantonese, Hunanese, Huaiyang and Guilin
Location – Shangri-La hotel, Guilin, China
Service – Service started out excellent it slowly faded as the dining room filled up. Service was still far better than most Chinese restaurants in the United States.
Verdict – An excellent restaurant for BOTH dinner or lunch, even if you aren’t staying at this hotel.
The lunch dim sum buffet was out of this world. We ordered 22 dishes, most of which were superior to anything in the United States, and paid only US$12!
