Barbuzzo is a listed as a Mediterranean, Pizza restaurant on Yelp but seems to have an Italian slant too. We would call it a high quality pizza and pasta place and more. We were visiting Philadelphia and stayed a block away in the City Center area. We chose this 4.5 star restaurant based on proximity, reviews, and prices. Prices would be 50% higher in San Francisco.
Menu
Barbuzzo’s menu is pretty wide ranging with everything from pizza to pasta to a hangar steak.
Service
Our server knew her stuff and was personable. There was a long pacing lull between clusters of dishes.
Food Picks
Mojito ($11) was strong and balanced.
Watermelon Salad ($13) was a refreshing salad, perfect for hot summer days.
MARGHERITA pizza ($14) san marzanos, house stretched fior di latte, basil and extra virgin olive oil was a little over charred, but still had good flavors and nice crust.
TUFOLI ($15) sunday supper pork ragu, seasonal mixed greens, basil, buffalo mozzarella, parmesan, olive oil bread crumbs was al dente and hit the spot. Not very saucey, this homemade pasta made with egg was very good.
PEI MUSSELS ($15) calabrian sausage, celery, garlic, shallot, lemon juice comes with 2 pieces of country bread. Very well done classic flavors. Could have used more bread to eat up the broth.
SEARED BRONZINO ($17) roasted parsnips & sunchokes, grilled red onion & burnt bread sauce was perfect and man was it cheap. Easily double in San Francisco!
SALTED CARAMEL BUDINO ($9) with dark chocolate crust, vanilla bean caramel and sea salt is the rave and it is a MUST order. Very decadent and slightly more salty that we thought. Save room.
PISTACHIO AND RASPBERRY CAKE ($9) lemon buttermilk ice cream, raspberry sauce was also very good and gluten free.
