The Market Website

Why did we dine here? – The Market is renoun to be one of the best Hotel Buffets in Hong Kong. Being big fans of luxury buffets and having ate at several over the years, it was next on our list.

Walk Thru Video:

Singaporean, Chinese, Malay, Indian, Thai, Japanese, South East Asian and Western cuisine are all represented here. 7 open kitchens. Buffet dishes at The Market are served on a rotational basis during both lunch and dinner sessions, so you may not get the same dishes.

Pricing varies with day of the week and time. Brunch is served Saturday/Sunday. Dinner from 630pm. We came for a weekend dinner and paid HKD$928 = US$118, not cheap but you get a ton of QUALITY food AND drink. Lobster with Alaskan Crabtastic Dinner Buffet was the theme. Want to save $$? Lunch is much cheaper at HK$448 but the selection will be less. They also have a takeaway menu. Decor is modern and clean looking.

Insider Tip – Make online reservations a couple days ahead of time. Promotions appear on their website from time to time.

Cuisine – International Buffet
Location – Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Opened – 2011

Service – The Market had very good service with servers taking away plates fast and refilling our water. Food was refilled pretty fast

Verdict – The Market is a great place to visit in Hong Kong if you are into buffets. It is unlike anything in the US including Las Vegas with better variety and quality. Some of the Youtube videos overhype this spot, it is good but not on the level of Ritz Carlton Singapore.

Other buffets to consider Harborside Hong Kong – Conrad Buffet – Verandah Buffet

These top spots are mainly found in Asia! We had a lot of fun coming here and experiencing this pure gluttony. This is not the world’s best buffet, but it definitely stands out.

Is this restaurant worth a 5 minute drive? Yes. 30 minute? Yes. 1 Hour? Maybe.

Food Review:

Appetizers – there are a bunch of pre-cooked and raw items including deli meats, bread, lobster bisque and more. 8/10

The Market Buffet Hong Kong salads

Fruits were plentiful – melon, watermelon, pineapple, and more – Salads had Lobster Salad with Quail Egg, traditional salad, and sever others.

The Market Buffet Hong Kong sushi 2

The Market Buffet Hong Kong sushi

Selection of premade sushi plus a make to order sashimi counter. 8.5/10

Chilled Shellfish included king crab legs, lobster claws, lobster cut in 2, whole shrimp, clams and more. A bit salty on the crab legs and claws. Not as wide a variety as some other buffets. 8.5/10

The Market Buffet Hong Kong crab

Cooked Entrees – You have to line up for the Prime rib, fire torched lobster, foie gras, and pan fried blue lobster. Super long line for the flaming Singapore Black Pepper Crab. All are very good especially the cooked lobsters.

The Market Buffet Hong Kong dessert

The Market Buffet Hong Kong dessert 2

Desserts were not a footnote with LOTS of quality options including durian paste, Mini D24 Durian Cheese Tart, Homemade Durian Ice Cream and free-flow GODIVA ice cream in a soft serve dispenser. Lots of different panna cottas, cakes, tarts, candy, and more. Big emphasis on Durian here. Doesn’t smell though.

Beverages included are coffee, tea, and 4 different juices.
