Why did we dine here? – Located in the upscale Xinyi district near Taipei 101, we decided to dine here because our hotel was 2 blocks away and because top quality Japanese in Taiwan has been highlighted by several friends.

Mitsui Cuisine M is part of the Mitsui Food & Beverage Enterprise group which owns several restaurants in Taipei including Aquatic Addition Development. We wanted to visit that location but ran out of time. Next trip!
This restaurant is on the ground floor of a Citibank office building. Impressive modern decor with a romantic dimly lite dining room and 3 piece live band.
Insider Tip – Quality product. Order carefully to avoid massive bills.
Cuisine – Japan
Location – Taipei Xinyi District
Opened – 2013
Service – Mitsui Cuisine M had pretty marginal service. Our server was a rookie and made our meal take hours. We had to hail them for many things.
Verdict – Mitsui Cuisine M serves up really good Japanese food. The variety and quality is superior to what we see in the San Francisco area. Prices are high, if you do not order carefully. This is a potential spend a ton of money and emerge hungry restaurant. Concentrate on the Sashimi and Sushi seasonal dishes.
Is this restaurant worth a 5 minute drive? Yes. 30 minute? Maybe. 1 Hour? Maybe.
Mitsui Cuisine M Signature Dishes – Sushi, Sashimi
Mitsui Cuisine M’s Menu includes a la carte items by weight as well as many combination and individual items.
Their Combination set menus start at NT$1500, not cheap.
Mitsui Cuisine M Food Picks:
Sashimi Selected Seasonal Dish for two (NT$980) with 12 pieces of nigiri and 6 pieces of maki is also of good value. Pretty big plate full of clean cut items. This would probably cost twice the amount in the US. The cooked eel was super tender, far different than American restaurants. Scallop was buttery and silky smooth. The rice they use is top notch. As you know, with Sushi, rice is the #1 ingredient, not fish.
Dessert was an excellent green tea ice cream or a cake that seemed to be made of raw cookie dough.
Nigiri Sushi Individual size (NT$520) includes 9 pieces and is a great value with shrimp, hokkaido scallop, roe and more. All very fresh and top notch.
Temaki with sea urchin (NT$150) was long and very smooth n rice. 4 bites of tasty uni.
Temaki with miso crab meat (NT$120) was also long and included some crab roe.
Oyster Soup (NT$180) came with 2 big oysters. A must get to fill your belly.
Sakhalin Surf Clam Soup (NT$280) was another decent soup with legit clams in a very hot broth.
OK: (Order if you like this dish)
Japanese Style Roast Sirloin Beef in mustard sauce (NT$420) was tiny and thin. Cooked rare, this was good but tiny. Probably not worth ordering.
Pans: (We would not reorder these dishes)
Japanese Style duck liver (NT$580) should not be ordered.
