Why did we dine here? – Otium is a modern American restaurant in downtown LA, right next to The Broad museum (Free admission! reserve online) We finish up at the museum and came to Otium for weekend brunch.
Chef Timothy Hollingsworth formerly of French Laundry has create a restaurant that: Adjacent to one of Los Angeles’ most important cultural corridors — Grand Avenue — and next to its newest, most vibrant addition, the contemporary art museum, The Broad, Otium strips away the rigid formalities of dining while focusing on the quality of food, warm service, and relaxed casual ambiance, paralleling the true essence of its name.

Verdict – Otium is a cool restaurant that is conveniently located. Definitely hit it for a meal after The Broad. The food is definitely on cutting edge.

Is this restaurant worth a 5 minute drive? Yes. 30 minute? Maybe. 1 Hour? Maybe.
Otium Signature Dishes – Many
Otium’s Menu changes all the time and has several options for vegetarians.
Otium Food Picks:
Hummus and Muhammara with Tomato, Cucumber, Mint, Olive, Naan ($15) shows the range of this restaurant. Hummus and French Toast on the same menu? Really nicely done Naan.
Crispy Potatoes with Lemon Salt, Aleppo Pepper, Creme Fraiche ($9) was a large dish full of nicely friend potatoes.
Matcha Cold Brew ($7) was strong and high in quality.
Donabe Fried Pork Belly, French Toast, Maple Whip ($26) Had us at Pork Belly. A modern re-imagining of the classic breakfast dish. Very nicely done pork belly with nuggets of french toast. Fun.
Chicken Falutas with Egg, Avocado, Salsa Roja ($17) celebrates the Mexican heritage of SoCal. Good version of the classic. A bit greasy.
