Why did we dine here? – Eylan is the latest restaurant from Chef Srijith Gopinathan and restaurateur Ayesha Thapar, the creators of Ettan, Copra. We liked those two spots, so we had to give this a try. Judging from the reservation site, we knew this place is already a hot ticket. Loud and crowded, they already are busy.
Each restaurant has different decor and food making it more interesting. This location is situated in a brand new high end development.
Eylan seasonally-driven Cal-Indian cuisine centered around a wood-fired grill, so we tried to focus on items touch by it.

Eylan Food Review:
Techies, Guns & Money ($19) Tropical | Spiced | Rum Old Fashioned – Rum Blend, Pandan, Cardamaro, Ginger, Cinnamon & Bitters is a surprisingly strong cocktail on the rocks. It sounded foo-foo from the ingredients! 8.5/10
Chilled Green Grape Chaas ($16) Lime & mint, semolina puchkas was a fun snack starter that has you pouring the sauce into the pani puri. The pani puri are slightly bigger than bite sized, making it hard to toss in your mouth. They burst in your mouth with flavor. Reminded us of the sesame leaft at Ettan. 8.5/10
Flaxseed Poee ($19) Smoked eggplant choka, avocado thecha, burani raita is the only eggless bread that is more on the healthy side. Large size plus 3 dips. 8/10
Eylan Lamb Seekh Kebab ($21) Cooked over wood fire, mint, lime & smoked chilli ghee was better than expected. Tender, lots of flavor, and a good use of their grill. 10/10
Gulf Shrimp ($21) Grilled over ember, lemongrass, ajwain, yogurt, turmeric was also a stellar starter with 4 medium pieces. The yogurt sauce went well with the shrimp. 10/10
Squash Blossom ($28) Bellweather Farms ricotta burji, grilled tomatillo makhani – Recommended with fermented rice pancake ($5) is a vegetarian entree and was better than the chicken. Nice sauce with 3 squash blossoms that had a not too rich cheese filling. Not a big portion 9.5/10
Eylan Chicken “Yakhni Pulao” ($35) Salan, burani raita & house pickled vegetables was the weakest dish of the night. This looks like a Persian rice dish, but without the raisins and nuts. Good size. The chicken was slightly overcooked and dry. Hard to pull chicken meat off. 7/10
Masala Chai “Sundae” ($12) Toasted ghee cake, whipped bourbon milk & masala crumble is their most popular dessert. Exotic flavor profile. One of the staff actually came over to ask if we liked it. 9/10
Shaved Rose Lassi ($14) Strawberry, pistachio & gulkand is also highly recommended. The rose flavor gives it a light airy profile. Dig deeper in and you’ll get some creamy goodness. 9.5/10
