Top notch Thai in Chiang Mai. Our original restaurant pick, Blackitch, was full, so our hotel concierge suggested this spot. Boy was he spot on. This was the best meal we had in Thailand. The restaurant is located in a posh hotel that costs US$700 a night and is rated at almost 100% on Trip Advisor.
The menu does not do this place justice (it sounds so simplistic), everything is kicked up a notch. We stuck to the signature dishes. The only thing not up to par was the service. As the place got more busy, the service fell off.
The dining room appeared to be all well heeled tourists. You need to reserve in advance. Before eating at this restaurant, we wondered if there would be Thai food better than San Francisco!
Prices are not cheap, but still cheap than San Francisco! Highly recommended
Food Picks:
Amuse
Tom Yum Goong (380 baht) Spicy prawn soup, straw mushrooms, flavored with lemongrass took the classic dish to a new level. 3 huge tiger prawns in a robust flavored soup with lots of quality ingredients. Unlike any Tom Yum we have had! 9/10
Gaeng Hung Lay Gae (590) Northern dry curry, slow cooked lamb shank and edamame. We hesitated to order this signature dish, but wow was it great. Tender and a robust sweet – savory sauce. Enough for two people. 9.5/10
Gaeng Kiew Waan Gai (280) Green curry with chicken, coconut heart and avocado was also kicked up a notch with really smooth curry and lots of avocado and bamboo shoots. 8.5/10
Mango & Sticky Rice (280) Served with sweet sticky rice and coconut ice cream was a solid version with really good ice cream and mango. 8/10
Coconut ice cream in shell (250) Coconut ice cream and cashew nut with sweetened condensed milk was beautiful and used the same perfect ice cream. 8/10
