L’As du Fallafel is a very popular, low cost Middle Eastern Fallafel restaurant and is known as the favorite fallafel place of Lenny Kravitz. They have a walk up window that seems to always have a line, as well as a sit down restaurant. Opened in 1979, it is located in the stylish Marais neighborhood, 4th arrondissement, not far from the Musee Picasso. This place is covered by the usual tour books.
Decor, Vibe – Typical low cost diner decor with lots of tables, booths, and waiters constantly running around. Minimal decor. Lots of younger folks were eating when we visited for lunch.

OK:
Assiette schawarma (18€) A big plate of full of lamb, french fries, cucumber tomato salad, and lettuce. The meat quality was average but the quantities immense. This plate is good enough for two people. Came with some big pieces of high quality fresh flat bread.
Schawarma Sandwichs Pitas (9€): A large pita bread over stuffed with hummus, grilled eggplant, cabbage, radish, tomato, cucumber. The sandwich contains the requisite super-crisp, garlicky chickpea fritters, with creamy hummus, lightly pickled red cabbage (something between slaw and kraut), salted cucumbers, fried eggplant and just-hot-enough harissa. This is all piled into a pita in such quantities that eating it is an adventure in napkin management.
Jus d’oranges pressees (5€) Fresh squeezed orange juice was a nice glass of fresh juice with a little pulp. Expensive.
Citronnade maison (4€) Fresh lemonade was also freshly made. On the sour side.

L’As du Fallafel had decent service, with servers running around all the time. Prices are low, so this place gets crowded early. This is a good place for a fast low cost meal. A major step up from fast food joints. Eat on the street from the to go window for cheapest prices and best authenticity. Nice cheap eats in a city full of expensive but great food. Métro: St-Paul
Looking locally, Falafel Drive-In in San Jose, California is about the best we have around here.
