Fenton’s Creamery has been around since 1922 in Oakland. They produce their own ice cream and toppings batch by batch on site. They serve breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, salads, but the main draw is of course, ice cream. Their creations are simply huge. Even the kid’s ice creams are huge. Our last visit was to the Nut Tree Vacaville location in the spring of 2015.
Decor, Vibe – Classic ice cream fountain decor with booth seating lining the wall. Lots of families, college students, and big groups enjoying breakfast.

Picks:
French dip with sliced roast beef au jus ($9.25) was a good-sized classic sandwich with some slightly salty au jus dip. Ample beef plus some excellent onion rings ($2 upcharge).
Crab Salad Sandwich ($14.95) is a classic signature dish here. Light on the mayo with real crab, this is a must get.
Fish and Chips ($12.25) consisted of 3 large pieces of deep fried goodness. Surprisingly better than average.
Bacon and Eggs with red potatoes ($3.95 Kids) was huge. Just think how big the regular sized one is. Quality of items was good.
Cranberry turkey sandwich ($10.50) was an excellent sandwich with fairly thin layers of grilled Turkey breast coated with some cranberry sauce, lettuce, on a French roll, and some caramelized onions. Side salad was pretty average. A nice lower calorie way to leave room for ice cream.
Caesar salad ($7.25) was a solid version of the classic salad. Nothing fancy.
Ice Cream Float ($3.95 Kids) with Vanilla ice cream and root beer. Liberal amounts of ice cream. Hard to see any root beer in there. They were nice enough to give us some extra root beer on the side. Note the the Floats from the to go counter are a lot smaller!
Ice cream soda ($3 Kids) with cherry syrup, whipped cream, and cherry vanilla ice cream, this was an excellent soda. While sucking on the soda itself resulted in lackluster flavors, taking a scoop of ice cream and slurping it down with some soda worked well.
Banana Split ($4.95 Kids) with any 3 scoops of ice cream, 3 toppings, and whipped cream was pretty big. The regular one is about 100% bigger. Good smooth ice cream and lots of toppings.
Belgian Waffle ($5.95) One giant, fluffy Belgian waffle served with a blend of Vermont maple syrup, butter and a dusting of powdered sugar.
OK:
Old-Fashion Oatmeal ($3.95) Steamy oatmeal served with brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins and non-fat milk.
Pancakes ($3.95 Kids) with choice of Farm-Fresh Buttermilk or Whole Wheat. Served with a blend of Vermont maple syrup and butter.
Pans:
None
Fenton’s Creamery is a classic place to go. They serve basic comfort food but specialize in huge ice cream creations. Service is pretty basic with the college kids doing just an adequate job. Fenton’s is also known for a mean crab sandwich. Definitely go there if you are in need of an ice cream fix. They also have a to go ice cream counter and ice cream cakes.
