250lb Wagyu beef roast?
Why did we dine here? – MGM Macau Rossio Buffet is the main buffet at this huge resort in Macau. Macau is China’s Las Vegas, and generates $44 billion in gambling revenue in 2014, compared to $6 billion in Las Vegas. Clearly Macau has become the biggest gambling area around. We stayed here for one night to see how the small country has changed.
As you watch the video, you can see how many times we are wowed by this buffet.
Being huge buffet fans, we had to try the best buffet in Macau, which locals have indicated is the Rossio. Our timing was superb. Four days a year, during the holidays, they have a special Christmas and New Year’s brunch buffet. In 2014 they had it on December 21, 25, 28, and January 4th from 11:30 AM to 3 PM. Incidentally, we were staying at the Four Seasons Macau and found their buffet solid but not up to this level.
The buffet costs MOP$628 or about US$100 per person and includes sangria or mojitos. For MOP$728 you get unlimited Veuve Clicquot Champagne, white wine, red wine and draft beer for 2 hours. These prices are not cheap but you will see you get a ton of impressive food. Normally the Sunday Brunch costs MOP$468/MOP$568.
Insider Tip – Make reservations in advance for these special brunch days.
Cuisine – Global Buffet
Location – Macau, China SAR
Opened – 2007
Service – MGM Macau Buffet had typical service for a buffet. The server came by every once in a while, plates were changed, beverages refilled.
Verdict – MGM Macau Buffet ranks number 2 or 3 for the best buffet in the world that we have been to, behind the Ritz Carlton in Singapore and Conrad Buffet in Hong Kong. This type of gluttony does not exist in the USA yet. Lots of alcohol, wagyu beef, foie gras, truffle infused turkey, seafood and lots of other high end cuisine make this not your average buffet.
