Why did we dine here? – Arquet is a new restaurant from the team at one Michelin Star Sorrel. We were fans of Sorrel and chef Alex Hong, and had to give this newspot a try. It is located in the former Slanted Door location at the Ferry Building, right next to their bakery – Parachute. Arquet opened only 3 weeks before our first visit, so there were kinks definitely being worked out.
The interior is clean looking with lots of exposed wood. Huge open kitchen with large woodfired hearth. “Arquet is a new, ingredient-driven California restaurant from the team behind Michelin star Sorrel Restaurant that blends wood-fired cooking with seasonal, locally sourced produce—drawing inspiration from the adjacent Ferry Building Farmers Market.”
We liked it so much we came back a couple weeks later with friends.
Insider Tip – Reserve ahead of time – Give them a month to get in tune. Come with 4 or more.
Cuisine – New American
Location – San Francisco
Opened – October 2025
Service – Arquet had solid service although there were missing dishes on both our visits. Clearly growing pains.
Verdict – Arquet wowed us with top notch food. One of the best new openings of 2025 for sure. Chef Hong clearly can clearly cook and prices are not as high as we though. Once they iron out the rough edges, this spot will be excellent. 6% SF mandate added to all checks
Is this restaurant worth a 5 minute drive? Yes. 30 minute? Yes. 1 Hour? Maybe.
Arquet Signature Dishes – Chicken, Trout, Pork Chop
Arquet’s Menu is pretty wide ranging and designed to be shared family style. Several items for vegetarians.
Arquet Food Picks:
Starbelly Sneetch ($16) was an interesting sounding cocktail and proved to be even better. Balanced, strong, nice flavor profile.
scallion fry bread ($18) buffalo ricotta, alex’s honeycomb, grilled figs, salsa macha is almost like a supersized Chinese green onion pancake with mega dipping sauce. Hot out of the fryer, this is a good starch to start with. Good size to share with 2 or 3. 9/10
marchini chicories ($18) blood orange, beet, tarragon, yogurt had a bitter flavor profile that is tempered with the yogurt, pomegrante, etc. Not as scary as we thought. 8.5/10
Grilled dirty girl gems ($19) endive, asian pear, anchovy green goddess, walnut, alpine cheese is perfect for vegetarians. They can even have it as an entrees. 3 good sized pieces. 8.5/10
Mt. Lassen California trout ($42) white miso mustard, artichoke, lucero blue lake beans hit the mark – perfectly cooked and lots of nice little touches. A must for fish fans. 9/10
sakura rack of pork ($39) grilled tory peaches, spigarello, spicy mustard seed jus is also stellar. You can taste the quality and smokiness in the brined tender meat. Tender, juicy with some greens underneath. This gives the Nopa chop a run for its money. 10/10
Half hot honey chicken ($38) has part deep fried and the other roast. Wow, tender crunchy fried chicken plus a juicy roast chicken. Half was enough to share with several people. Didn’t taste any spiciness other than in the pickles. 10/10
Short Rib ($46) is expensive but was melt in your mouth good. Extremely tender. Another amazing entree. 10/10
hen of the woods mushrooms ($16) black garlic xo, fermented ramps are always fun to eat and see. Unique combo with the XO sauce. Reminds us of the musroom stand outside. 9/10
smoked Tierra Farm Potatoes ($14) radish top gremolata, miso hollandaise were also fantastic. Very crispy plus a really decadent hollandaise. 9.5/10
Smoked carrots ($18) is one huge carrot cooked very tender. Where did they find this one? 9/10
thai tea ice cream, toasted rice anglaise, boba, popcorn ($14) was a fun eggles dessert with a combination of sweet ice cream and varied textures of the popcorn and boba. Keep some room for dessert. 9/10
Ube Cheesecake ($14) sounds good but proved to be average. 7.5/10
Sorbet ($8) had 3 scoops and was definitely home made. Not sour, more on the sweet side. 8.5/10
