Pollen Street Social Food Picks:
MODERN COSMO (£13.50) Vodka, Yuzu liqueur, Ramazzotti, cranberry, orange sherbet, citrus. Was good but really tiny.
Amuse bouche with 3 items and a small soup hit the spot. If you are not very full, you could forgo a starter! 8/10
Pressed quail & duck liver, truffle dressed vegetables, liver toastie (23) fulfilled our need for foie gras. More inventive than just a slab of foie, this dish has a variety of textures and flavors. 8/10
Paignton Harbour crab salad, apple, coriander, lemon purée, brown crab on toast (22) was a beautiful looking modern crab salad. Not particularly big but well done. 8/10
Suckling pig, belly & loin, red flesh plum, onion & almond purée (38) was pork 3 ways. Beautiful crispy skin on 2 plus a really nicely done loin. A must for fellow pork fans. 8/10
Roasted sea bass, shellfish fondue, crab crushed potatoes (41) was a delicate dish with perfectly cooked fish. 8/10
Pre-dessert was a sorbet combination that proved to be excellent. Frankly we could have skipped dessert! 9/10
Kent Mango, coconut cream, pineapple sorbet & white chocolate (14) was excellent too. It took forever to arrive and we found out why. A beautiful white chocolate container filled with sorbet and fruit. A bit on the tart side. 9/10
OK: (Order if you like this dish)
None
Pans: (We would not reorder these dishes)
BERRIED, ALIVE (8) Mixed berries cordial, lapsang souchon tea, fennel syrup, lemon tasted odd. 5/10
