Why did we dine here? – République is similar to Tartine in San Francisco, but they kick it up a notch. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We went for breakfast. There was a short line on a Saturday at 9am, but by 10am, the line was way out the door. Beautiful restaurant full of beautiful people.
Insider Tip – Get in line EARLY for brunch
Cuisine – French, Brunch
Location – Hancock Park, Los Angeles
Opened – 2013
Service – République was an order at the counter, get a number spot, but the servers did more than usual. A nice touch.
Verdict – République has long lines for good reason. Beautiful baked goods along with accessible elevated standard classics. You cannot really pigeon hole this spot as French, when you have Vegetable Chili, Kimichi Fried Rice, and Quiche on the same menu. California at its best!
Definitely will come back for dinner.

République Food Picks:
Croque Madame ($17) house-cured ham, gruyère cheese, baby green salad, fried egg is a rich filling sandwich. Popular and huge.
Chia Seed Pudding ($14) coconut and almond milk, farmers market fruit, passion fruit, wildflower honey sounds chez LA but was really good. Smooth, fresh, and healthy!
We purchased several holiday bakery items include shortbread, gingerbread men, and cookies. All were delicious!
