Why did we dine here? – Really good Italian in SoHo. Osteria Morini is Michael White’s Soho more casual Italian restaurant (Marea, Alto, Vaucluse, Convivio and Ai Fiori) was near our hotel. We debated coming here, as our experience at 2 Michelin Star Marea was not good. Lucikly this spot was not only way cheaper, but way better. Really good starters, pasta and dessert.

Insider Tip – Reserve ahead. Get ready for pasta

Service – Osteria Morini had very good service. The waitress helped us navigate the menu and made good recommendations. Pacing was good.
Verdict – Osteria Morini impressed us with excellent food. Perhaps better than most Italian places in San Francisco. Great house made pasta, starters, and desserts.

Osteria Morini Food Picks:

Osteria Morini New York Battilardo

Battilardo (3 items $24) Prosciutto di Parma 24 month, Fegatini duck liver mousse, passito wine, Smoked Trout olives & sour cream was much more nice looking than anticipated. Really good quality Prosciutto along with very smooth duck liver. Had to ask for more crostini to finish off all the goodness.

Osteria Morini New York Rucola

Rucola ($13) wild arugula, plums, crispy speck ricotta salata, Lambrusco vinaigrette was a solid salad. Dressed very well and full of fresh greens.

Osteria Morini New York Tagliatelle bolognese

Tagliatelle bolognese ragù, parmigiano ($23) is a classic pasta we like to get. Love a great Tagliatelle! Real al dente noodles made downstairs along with a robust ragu sauce. Tons of meat.

Osteria Morini New York Cappelletti truffled

Cappelletti truffled ricotta ravioli, prosciutto, butter ($24) OMG comes to mind. A must get for truffle fans. Rich decadent flavor. Sorry for the blurry pic!

Osteria Morini New York Fusilli

Fusilli ($23) with bolognese ragu is egg free and gluten free. Same great bolognese sauce and al dente cooking.

Budino ($11) caramelized milk chocolate cream, chocolate chip crumble, candied hazelnuts, fior di latte gelato was a fabulous way to end the meal. Rich chocolate goodness.

Osteria Morini New York Gelati

Gelati ($3) Strawberry Rose is a refreshing dessert. Housemade with a light touch on flavor.

Osteria Morini New York Decaf Affogato

Decaf Affogato ($10) freshly brewed espresso, amaro fior di latte gelato was highly recommended. Luckily they had a decaf version. Some nice complex flavors blending in strong coffee.
