Ike’s Place has been serving sandwiches since 2007 with lines out the door almost all the time. The original location was at 3489 16th Street, San Francisco. It is now a U: Dessert Story.

Ike Shehadeh’s believes that sandwiches should only be made with the finest ingredients and the utmost quality control. They have expanded big time from our original 2009 visit. Our last visit was in March, 2026 to Burlingame location.

Dirty Sauce

All sandwiches are made to order, and come with Ike’s “(soon-to-be) patented Dirty Sauce”, Ike’s house garlic aioli sauce, made with 20 herbs and spices, and some of Ike’s own secret ingredients. Dirty Sauce is spread on the tops of Ike’s sandwiches and baked with the bread, turning it into Dirty Garlic Bread, and then re-spread on the bottoms, just for that extra flavor. They have a vegan version of the sauce without eggs.

Ike’s Decor, Vibe – Ike’s Place is pretty much a to-go spot and has a couple small tables inside.

All sorts of named sandwiches from baseball players to politicians. They have additional sandwiches that are not on the menu, ask! It is a pain to read throught the menu for the first time!

Ike’s Picks:
Free lolipops with sandwiches. All sandwiches served Hot & With Dirty Sauce Unless Otherwise Specified. Also served with your choice of Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onions, Pickles, Banana Peppers. Freshly Baked Breads include French, Wheat, Soudough, DutchCrunch, and Gluten Free.

2. Hollywould’s SF Cheesesteak ($15.50) Add $4.50 to make it a combo with drink, chips. Steak, Mushrooms, Provolone. [1250 cal] was a light on meat but still a good filling sandwich. Considering this costs about the same as other sandwiches, we did not expect a lot. Dutch Crunch Bread was good. 7.5/10

18. Matt Cain ($14.95) Turkey, Roast Beef, Salami (Beef), Godfather Sauce, Provolone. [1350 cal] is one of their most popular sandwiches. Nice meaty sandwich and same Dutch Crunch Bread. 8/10

Ike’s Place had a 15 minutes for the food. Call ahead or use their App and place your order to reduce waiting times. Sandwiches are not the cheapest around, but are high on quality. We have no problem recommending this joint for some good sandwiches.
