Marzano is a casual neighborhood Italian trattoria restaurant in Oakland with two locations. Their specialty is woodfired oven neapolitan pizza. We dined at the location on Park for brunch. Their sister restaurant is Garibaldis.
Decor, Vibe – Marzano is a fairly small restaurant with lots of exposed brick and wooden beams, with a long bar. The restaurant was about half full for lunch but is packed in the evenings. Most of the diners appear to be neighborhood locals and included some families.

Picks:
Complementary Breadsticks were tasty and had a spicy kick to them.
Seared brussels sprouts ($5) with radicchio, lemon, chili flake and fried capers was a pile of fresh firm brussels sprouts cooked perfectly. No need to deep-fried these babies to accentuate the flavors.
Wood fired Delta asparagus ($10) with burrata, sea salt, agrumato had a good serving of fresh asparagus was cooked just right. The cheese was excellent, smooth and mild flavored. We originally ordered the soup they sent us this instead, we have no issues with this.
margherita pizza tomato, hand pulled mozzarella & basil ($13) had excellent flavors and a top-notch cheese. The middle was a little on the soggy side and the crust on the chewy side.
bianca pizza prosciutto di parma, wild arugula, high-quality mozzarella, grana padano & evo ($15) was a thin crust pizza smothered with lots of prosciutto and a pile of arugula. This pizza will satisfy meat lovers.
OK:
pan roasted mediterranean octopus castelvetrano olive salsa, arugula, preserved lemon calabrian chili ($10) had some big chunks of spicy octopus smothered with greens. A decent dish but overly spiced.
Pans:
None
Marzano had solid service with the food coming very quickly and no worries about water or ordering. The food here is solid, atmosphere informal, making this a great place for a quick cocktail and pizza. Oakland’s Pizzaiolo still ranks tops in this area pizza quality.
Take-out is available.
