Sushi Ota Food Picks:
Fried Calamari ($5) was a comp’d appetizer. They had us waiting beyond our reservation time by 30 minutes. Light batter, good starter.
$85 Omakase 5 course:
Miso Soup – Fine, nothing special
Appetizer: Mozuku Seaweed & 1pc Tuna Belly, 1pc Yellowtail Belly, 1pc Salmon Belly – An ornate dish to start us off. It was cool having 3 different types of belly to compare and contrast.
Baked: Baked Miso Seabass, Baked Clam Dynamite were both very good. The Sea Bass really stood out but was small.
Sushi: Tuna, Yellowtail, Salmon, albacore, Tai, Eel (1pc of each) – Wow, beautiful, fresh, cut perfect, could have used another order of this.
Dessert: Green Tea ice cream
Unagi Don ($25) had a sweet sauce and several large pieces of unagi. Fresh and cooked just right.
Teriyaki Chicken ($6) was larger than we thought it would be.
California Now Crab Roll ($8.50) was very good. Real smooth tasting crab and you pay the up charge.
Nigiri Ebi ($4.50) had a large shrimp and hit the mark.
