Why did we dine here? – Tasty n Sons was recommended by fellow foodies on Chowhound. We had just arrived in Portland from an early morning flight and were ready to experience Portland’s highly regarded food scene. Conveniently located, this restaurant was on the way to downtown Portland from PDX airport. This was a great first meal.

Ox Restaurant Review, Portland
Posted on August 4, 2014Why did we dine here? – Ox is part of the restaurant group that owns Lardo, Grassa, and other Portland restaurants. This place was highly recommended by some of the foodies on Chowhound, so we added it to our list of must-visit restaurants. This modern steakhouse is located in a bright red building and features a huge wood fired grill right near the door. Wait times at this restaurant can be long, so we came right when it opened. You need to arrive 30-45 minutes early on weekends. Clearly this is a hot spot.
Little Bird Restaurant Review, Portland
Posted on July 28, 2014Why did we dine here? – Little Bird is the sister restaurant to Portland’s most popular Le Pigeon. It is cheaper and a little less formal. We felt like something more casual and decided to eat here instead. Our bencmark for French Bistro’s is Chapeau! and Absinthe in San Francisco, so we had some high bars in mind. (We’re not going to get into the real Bistro’s we have been into in France).
Lardo Restaurant Review, Portland
Posted on July 21, 2014Why did we dine here? – Lardo was the place mentioned several times by other foodies, when asked where to get a great burger in Portland. We’re also big Porchetta fans, so this made it an easy decision. We selected the location right near downtown Portland, within walking distance of our hotel and that bookstore to end all bookstores, Powell’s.
They have 3 locations to serve your pig-out needs. Chefs Table Group also owns Ox, Grassa Next Door, and several other well respected restaurants in Portland.
Beast Restaurant Review, Portland
Posted on July 14, 2014Why did we dine here? – Beast was recommended by a friend. Naomi Pomeroy has been charming Portlandians for a while. There are two communal tables were everyone is served at a 6pm or 8:45pm seating Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday has a 7pm seating. $75 Six-course prix-fixe dinner. Brunch is served on Sunday at 10am and 12pm. There is only one menu for the week and no substitutions are allowed. If you have allergies to certain items, they will remove them from the plate. True Portlandia omakase. We can’t think of one restaurant in San Francisco that does the same thing. Beast is highly rated at 4.5 stars on Yelp.
