Minmon is an unique Chinese seafood buffet in Shanghai with a location in Shenzhen. It is located about 20 minutes from the Bund. We watch a video about this spot and wanted to give it a try. Decor is modern and nautical in theme. The selection of seafood items geared towards Chinese cooking are unparalleled! What a fun spot. No reservations.

We came for a weekend dinner and paid CN¥299 = US$41 for a ton of food AND drink. You can pay 499 and get special dishes like Uni and Lobster. There is so much variety, we found NO need to do this. Free toy if you checking on Dianping. (Can’t trust those ratings!)

Buffet Walk Through

Only found in China! We had a lot of fun coming here and experiencing this pure gluttony. Clearly this is not the world’s best buffet, but it definitely stands out. Probably will not return, but we’ll never forget this spot. It was an affordable blast.

Food Review:

Appetizers – there are a bunch of pre-cooked items including fair dim sum.

Skewers, fried season and fries, cooked oysters, prawns, and more.

Small selection of sushi. 8/10

Fruits were plentiful – dragon fruit, watermelon, pineapple, loquat – Salads are practically non-existent.

Entrees – We’ve never seen so many seafood options for hot pot cooking.

Many kinds of fish, live shrimp, live clams, crab, great abalone, fish balls, thinly cut meats, and so on. Several kinds of very well done long boiled Chinese soups. You can cook all these raw seafood items in your individual hot pot. Big Roll your own dipping sauce station.

Lots of veggies and fungus.

You can score some passable foie gras, solid freshly cooked tomahawk steak, scallops and more when they appear at the cooking station. Peking duck, soy sauce chicken, squab were better than they looked. Fried potatoes, oysters, fish and more. Food quality is not top notch as expeceted. 9/10

Desserts had 2 refrigerators with basic cake, puddings, grass jelly, 8 kinds of ice cream. Not a strong suit. 7/10

Beverages are nuts. All you can drink refrigerators full of UNLIMITED soda, teas, boba, beer, hard liquor, wine, several freshly made juices and more. Many items were not that cold. 9.5/10

Service was pretty good. People roaming and taking plates all the time.

Hot tip: We got their late in the evening. They close at 9pm but will let you stay and eat what you have on the table. Clearly several regular knew this and place WAY TOO much food on the table.
