They’ve been around since 2020 and were listed in the SF Chronicles top BBQ list. We were biking nearby (God’s Trail is legendary) and dropped in for lunch. They are located across from the beach, about 20 miles from San Francisco. We’ve been back several times, latest in 2026 at their new location. Happy Hour Thursday/Friday 3-6pm $2 off taco/snacks, $10 Combos, $2 off draft/wine, $30 beer buckets Online ordering is turned off on weekends, so you can’t beat the line The BBQ is as good as anything in SF. Far better than 4505. Give it a try if you are nearby. They run out of meats, so come early. Alas, Breakwater is only so good, it is still a level below the best BBQ we’ve had – Pinkerton’s Houston. Safety Pluses – Outdoor seating in the back and front. Online menu, Delivery services available, online ordering. Breakwater Food Review: Brisket ($19 per 0.5 pound) Creekstone Farms Certified Black Angus, dry rubbed. Nice black edge and lots of fat. Ample quantity. Tender juicy. Solid BBQ sauce – bit sweet. 9/10 Pork Ribs […]

Ryan formerly was executive chef at Fifth Floor. They used to have a stand at the Ferry building but have since setup permanently on Divisadero in SF’s Nopa neighborhood. 4505 also has a thriving business in meat snacks and fried pork rinds. We gotten take out several times, last was in 2026. A better BBQ place is Breakwater BBQ in El Granda. San Francisco’s BBQ pales in comparison with the real deal. Check out the best BBQ we’ve had – Pinkerton’s Houston. Decor, Vibe – 4505 Burgers and BBQ has a outdoors picnic area for dining, very casual. Great for during Pandemic. Order at the window and the food comes to you 4505 Menu Their Menu has burgers, BBQ, and lots of meat. Meat plates, Sandwiches, Salads and more. 4505 Food Picks: Pork Spare ribs ($29.95 for 1/2 rack) had a bunch large ones that are very meaty, fall off the bone, and flavorful. Defintely one of their strong dishes. Sauce is a bit too spicy. We once got it thick and sweet, but couldn’t tell the difference! Very sour Carolina mustard sauce. 8.5/10 Choose 2 Meat […]

Everett and Jones is a Barbecue restaurant with locations in Berkeley, Hayward, Sacramento, and Oakland’s Jack London Square. We ate at their Berkeley location, which is much more informal than their flagship Oakland one, which has live music. Our last visit was to the Berkeley location in 2013. Decor, Vibe – Everett and Jones is a converted old fast food place with bumper stickers all over the wall, picnic tables outside with people hawking stuff. Mostly local regulars were getting lunch. The Oakland place is much nicer. Everett and Jones Menu Pictures Website Everett and Jones Menu Picks: 2 Way Combo ($16.30) Pork Ribs – The pork ribs were low in quantity but were very tender and flavorful. The brisket was a little better than the ribs. The BBQ sauce is very good, sweet and both tangy and smoky. You can get mild, medium, or hot sauce. It also came with 2 slices of simple wheat bread and a fair potato salad. Baked Beans ($1.50) are a great side, slightly sweet, good quantity and very tasty. OK: 2 Way Combo ($15) Beef Links – Were of large quantity in the combo. Good but not as good as the ribs. These […]

Big Bubbas Bad BBQ is a food concession that appears at some of the country’s largest State Fairs, Nascar Races, and Livestock Shows since 1996. You will find them in California, Colorado, and New Mexico. We have eaten their food several times over the years and found it to be pretty good. Our last visit in 2013 was during the Maker’s Faire in San Mateo. The best time to order is in the middle of the day, when there is a line. Towards the end of the day, they wind down the BBQ’ing so food quality falls off. Decor, Vibe – Big Bubbas Bad BBQ has a huge smoker with tons of meat cooking. Corn was grilling on a separate grill. Long lines most of the time. Lots of families chowing down on fair grub. They use Lazzari Natural Mesquite Lump Charcoal. Menu Pictures Website Big Bubbas Bad BBQ menu Big Bubba’s Picks: Pork Spare Ribs ($9, $13 for a dinner plate) were great. Lots of tender meat and very good BBQ sauce. Tangy, sweet, and zesty sauce. Messy but delicious. Forget about the dinner with 4 ribs, average cole slaw and just forgettable beans. Our recommendation is to stick […]
