We would call it a high quality pizza and pasta place and more. We were visiting Philadelphia and stayed a block away in the City Center area. We chose this 4.5 star restaurant based on proximity, reviews, and prices. Prices would be 50% higher in San Francisco. Menu Barbuzzo’s menu is pretty wide ranging with everything from pizza to pasta to a hangar steak. Service Our server knew her stuff and was personable. There was a long pacing lull between clusters of dishes. Food Picks Mojito ($11) was strong and balanced. Watermelon Salad ($13) was a refreshing salad, perfect for hot summer days. MARGHERITA pizza ($14) san marzanos, house stretched fior di latte, basil and extra virgin olive oil was a little over charred, but still had good flavors and nice crust. TUFOLI ($15) sunday supper pork ragu, seasonal mixed greens, basil, buffalo mozzarella, parmesan, olive oil bread crumbs was al dente and hit the spot. Not very saucey, this homemade pasta made with egg was very good. PEI MUSSELS ($15) calabrian sausage, celery, garlic, shallot, lemon juice comes with 2 […]

A perfect place for breakfast, lunch or a snack. Get exposed to Amish and Pennsylvania Dutch. A must visit for anyone into food and history! Some vendors close early, so beware. A lot more history to this food market than our Ferry Building. Our Favorites stores: Bassetts Ice Cream – Great Ice cream with lots of modern flavors like Matcha. Beiler’s Donuts and Salads – A must goto for donuts. Freshly made daily. Carmen’s Famous Italian Hoagies – Always a line for the cheesesteaks. No need to drive far to get a decent Philly cheesesteak. DiNics – Roast Pork Sandwich – Really good pork sandwich. Very filling, so beware. Share or save some of it for later. Iovine Brothers Produce – Very nice selection of produce and fruits. Prices on some items like oranges are a lot higher than SF Kamal’s Middle Eastern Specialties – Smoothies, special juices, even celery juice. Metropolian Bakery – Nice bakery items. Best Vegan Chocolate muffin we have had! Miller’s Twist – Tasty pretzels. Try both original and cinnamon. Closes at 3:30pm on some days Profi’s Creperie – Well done dessert crepes.

When you ask foodies in Philadelphia, Zahav often comes up as the must visit restaurant. We had to dine at this 4.5 Yelp rated stop. They serve Middle Eastern Israeli cuisine. We have nothing like this in the San Francisco Area. You need to make reservation well in advance, otherwise line up before they open at 5pm for a seat at the bar or chef’s counter. We lined up at 440pm on a Sunday and got a spot easily. This was easily the best meal of our trip. Unique offerings with a high level of cooking prowess. Be sure to give this try when you are in Philly. Menu Zahav has a variety of reasonably priced salatim, hummus, and mezzo small plates. Many entrees with lots of options for vegetarians and gluten free eaters. They also have a tasting menu ($48) plus a special chefs tasting where they pick all dishes plus include a special entree. ($60) The entire table must order the special menu. Food quantities are really high with these set menus. taste of zahav salatim & hummus with laffa two mezze one al ha’esh dessert $48 per person for the entire party Service […]
