Why did we dine here? – Kingdom of Dumpling is a small Chinese restaurant specializing in dumplings. Being large dumpling fans, we decided to finally give this place a try. There are few restaurants with this variety of dumplings on the menu. The place has been featured on Check Please, so it has become busier over the years. Lots of to go orders. Our last visit was in July 2016. Insider Tip – The restaurant is tiny, so come early or else you’ll have to wait. To go might be a good option. Cuisine – Chinese Location – San Francisco, Sunset District Opened – 2008 Service – Kingdom of Dumpling had reasonable service for such a tiny establishment. Verdict – Kingdom of Dumpling serves up solid dumplings in pretty marginal conditions. Not exactly a hot date spot. San Tung serves up slightly better dumplings in a much nicer location. Also consider larger Dumpling Kitchen, up the block. They have better Xiao Long Bao. Signature Dishes – Dumplings?!? Kingdom of Dumpling SF Menu includes a variety of starters as well as 19 different types of dumplings. They also have typical Mandarin style Chinese dishes. The menu is very short and succinct.

Why did we dine here? – Dumpling Empire is a new Chinese dumpling shop in South San Francisco, right off Grand Ave. It reminds us of Town of Dumpling in San Mateo. Simple, small (10 tables), family run, reasonable prices, plain decor. Insider Tip – Get there early to avoid waiting Cuisine – Chinese Location – South San Francisco Opened – 2012 Service – Dumpling Empire had 1 server, so he was running ragged. Verdict – Dumpling Empire serves up solid dumplings, definitely worth a visit if you are into this food. Dumpling Empire Signature Dishes – Dumplings! Dumpling Empire’s Menu is moderately long. Lots of dumplings, some other dishes too. Website Dumpling Empire Menu Dumpling Empire Food Picks: Shanghai Soup Dumpling (6 for $4.95) Lots of soup, small, thin wrapper, very well done. Pork Dumpling with Napa Cabbage (12 for $5.95) hit the spot. No egg, cooked just right, solid flavors. Beef Stew Soup Noodle ($6.95) was pretty large with lots of meat and tender noodles. Good broth quality. OK: (Order if you like this dish) Shanghai Pan Fried Soup Dumpling (4 for $5.95) Good sized but no soup. Pans: (We would not reorder these dishes) None
