Ideale Restaurant is an Italian restaurant in San Francisco’s North Beach serving authentic Roman cuisine for over 12 years. They focus on hand picked ingredients, homemade pastas, and breads. Small counter in the back. Locals and some tourists primarily in the 30’s and 40’s with a couple big parties. Menu (Click to zoom into any picture) Website Menu Picks: Burrata ($12.50) fresh artisan burrata mozzarella with arugula and tomatoes had some good, strong, and mushy cheese with fresh green tomatoes. Calamari e rughetta ($11) Fresh local calamari, grilled with organic arugola was a very good appetizer. Couple pieces were slightly burned but the calamari was fresh and cooked well. Margherita Pizza ($13) topped with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil had a nice and crispy crust, with no sogginess. Cheese was average and could have been more premium. Interesting powdery flour under the pizza. Scallopine ai funghi ($22) Veal scaloppini sauteed with mushrooms was on the small and thin side but hit the spot. Could have used a little less saltiness. Potatoes were […]

Boboquivari’s is a steakhouse in the Marina district of San Francisco. It means Venetian court jester of comedy. It’s nick name is Bobo’s and is known for 100% USDA prime beef dry-aged for a long six weeks. They have free valet parking! Decor, Vibe – Funky decor with lots of small colorful rooms and new age music, horseshoe shaped bar on the main level. Pretty busy place, with big parties, couples, some tourists dining. Menu Pictures Website Menu Picks: Garlic Baked Sourdough Olive Loaf was a really good complimentary bread. Crostini con burrata ($10) with heirloom toy box tomatoes, bermuda onions & avocado in balsamic vinagrette had some really good cheese. The tomatoes were tiny but good. The vinagrette was very strong. Filet Mignon Bone-In ($39) is their signature steak. It is a big piece of tender beef with lots of aged flavor and juice. Even the meat on the bone was good. Mussels, Shrimp, Crab ($39) on an Iron Skillet and Roasted was an appetizer we got as an entree. It was huge and sizzling. Tons of mussels, half a crab, and a good portion of shrimp. The crab was especially delicious. 2 different types of butter dipping sauces. […]

Frascati is a Mediterranean style bistro neighborhood restaurant on Russian Hill in San Francisco. Since 1987 this place has been serving it up. It has some of the highest ratings on Yelp. Decor, Vibe – Small corner building with 3 inter mingled levels. This place has neighborhood charm and had lots of locals in their 30’s to 50’s eating. The hostess knew many of those dining. Menu Pictures Dessert menu Big Wine list Wine by Glass Picks: Russet Potato Gnocchi ($10) with butternut squash, black trumphet mushrooms, melted leeks and white truffle oil was very good. Good portion of tender gnocchi, cooked just right. Maple Leaf Duck Breast ($26) with herb spatzle arugula, hearts of palm salad, scallions and huckelberry sauce was cooked to a requested medium rare. The top duck piece had a crispy skin. Cooked just right and tasted wonderful, one of the better duck’s around. Osso Buco Milanese ($27) with saffron scented risotto, carmelized leeks, baby spinach, citrus gremolata was very tender and full of flavor. They even give you a spoon for the bone marrow. The risotto was even better. Roast Cauliflower Soup ($8) with cauliflower salad and Basil oil was very good, smooth and creamy, […]
