Their Marin based Green Gulch Farm provides much of the produce. Greens was a pioneer in the early days, nowadays we have many more plant centric restaurants like Wildseed, Baia, Shizen, etc. Today almost every fancy restaurant accommodates vegetarians to some degree. The menu changes all the time. Our last visit was in the Summer of 2022 during the Pandemic. They had added a nice outdoor seating area as well as takeout. Decor, Vibe – Most tables have a stunning view of the San Francisco Marina’s harbor and the Golden Gate Bridge. (Outside dining doesn’t) The dining room has a mish mash of paintings, wood, and sculpture looking almost unchanged for decades. There were a lot of folks in their 30’s to 50’s dining. A fair amount of green hippies. Greens Menu Different lunch, brunch, and dinner menus. Lots of starter options as well as a good selection of big plates. The menu changes all the time but usually has some pizza and pasta dish. Everything clearly marked, gluten free, vegan, vegan possible. 6% healthy SF Mandate. Website Menu Food Picks: Pinot Noir & Hibiscus Spritz Lemon, Calisaia Bitters ($14) tastes […]

It is a very popular restaurant in the Marina district, with prime time reservations needing to be booked a week or two in advance. This restaurant is serious about wine and pairing. Our last visit was in the summer of 2012. Wine prices by the glass are reasonable but are tiny. A better bet is a carafe that can serve almost 3 glasses. C Luli Chardonnay was $23. Decor, Vibe – This is a loud place with lots of folks of all ages. Families, young adults, and the older set. The decor is a little understated. A16 Menu pics Wine Board A16 Picks: Mozzarella burrata with olive oil, sea salt and crostini ($11) – Awesome dip for the toasted bread. The Mozzarella did not even taste cheesy. Great appetizer. Yellowtail jack crudo with plum, fried bread crumbs and calabrian chiles ($14) included 5 thin slices of very fresh fish. Bruschetta with braised calamari, capers, tomato and cannellini beans ($11) was a pain to cut but was topped with 3 types of fresh tomatoes.

Roam Artisan Burgers is a new Burger joint on Union Street in the Marina district. They focus on humanely raised, grass feed meats, sustainable produce, organic ice cream salted caramel milkshakes, wine on-tap, and agave-sweetened sodas. Even their menu is printed on 100% post consumer recycled paper or using green energy. All their packaging is hundred percent compostable. Decor, Vibe – Roam Artisan Burgers has a open and airy feel the long counter, a long communal table, and lots of retro light bulbs. The restaurant was filling up during lunch with the local work crowd trying out new place. Menu Menu has fully customizable burgers for meat lovers as well as vegetarians. Website Roam Artisan Burgers Menu Roam Artisan Burgers Full image set Picks: The Classic ($5.99) Pacific Pastures 100% grass fed 1/4lb beef patty, House made pickles, Butter lettuce, Tomato, Onions, House made pickles, Aged White Cheddar was a decent burger with good flavors cooked to a medium and not very juicy.

Boboquivari’s is a steakhouse in the Marina district of San Francisco. It means Venetian court jester of comedy. It’s nick name is Bobo’s and is known for 100% USDA prime beef dry-aged for a long six weeks. They have free valet parking! Decor, Vibe – Funky decor with lots of small colorful rooms and new age music, horseshoe shaped bar on the main level. Pretty busy place, with big parties, couples, some tourists dining. Menu Pictures Website Menu Picks: Garlic Baked Sourdough Olive Loaf was a really good complimentary bread. Crostini con burrata ($10) with heirloom toy box tomatoes, bermuda onions & avocado in balsamic vinagrette had some really good cheese. The tomatoes were tiny but good. The vinagrette was very strong. Filet Mignon Bone-In ($39) is their signature steak. It is a big piece of tender beef with lots of aged flavor and juice. Even the meat on the bone was good. Mussels, Shrimp, Crab ($39) on an Iron Skillet and Roasted was an appetizer we got as an entree. It was huge and sizzling. Tons of mussels, half a crab, and a good portion of shrimp. The crab was especially delicious. 2 different types of butter dipping sauces. […]

Izzy’s Steaks and Chops is a popular steakhouse in the Marina district of San Francisco. It was opened in 1987. They also have locations in San Carlos and San Ramon. We visited the San Francisco location. Izzy’s is named after Izzy Gomez, a legendary San Francisco saloonkeeper. Steaks at Izzy’s include 2 of their sides. They have several seafood options for non meat eaters. Vegetarians should stay away. Decor, Vibe – Izzy’s San Francisco has Old school era decor with lots of memorabilia on the wall. Bottles of sauces all over the place. The place was pretty filled and very loud. Diners were from the 20’s to 60’s. Many bigger parties. Izzy’s Menu Pictures Website Izzy’s Menu Izzy’s Steakhouse Picks: Filet Mignon Medallions Au Poivre ($29.95) smothered with Pepper Cream Sauce was much more tender than the New York Sirloin. Bone-in Ribeye ($34.95) was big rib eye steak with its bone and lots of fat still intact. This made it more juicy and tender. Prawn Cocktail ($8.95) had 5 big fresh and tender prawns with a little cocktail sauce, and some greens in the middle. Basilito was a basil based Mojito drink. It came strong and had not much basil […]
