Follow our journey and learn from our experiences over several trips. Here is a compilation of more casual restaurants, snack places we visited during our 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023-2024 New York City trips. Our goal was to find good eats at reasonable prices, primarily restaurants where locals go. We have no interest sampling cuisine that is done better at home in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is challenging on an expensive ‘island’, full of pricey tourist traps. Food that is better in New York than in San Francisco Pizza Bagels Italian Sichuan Ethnic food – African, South American, etc.. Our Trip includes visits to Brooklyn, Flushing. Peter Luger is a legendary steakhouse. Our last visit was about 25 years ago, time to dine again. Since 1887 this institution has been packing in meat lovers from all over the world. Most of the folks in the dining room were clearly tourists like us. Remember, its cash only, no credit cards. They also have a location in Great Neck, NY. Our last visit was in 2016. The only thing that changes are the prices. Peter Luger Caesars Palace Las Vegas opened in 2024. It is located right next to the legendary Bacchanal Buffet. Menu looks similar to the original location. Steak for two $164.90. Three $244.85. Four $305.80. Single Steak $81.95 Rib Steak for Two $195.90 You can make reservations up to a month in advance for this classic old wood paneled restaurant. Insider Tip – Make reservations ahead. Order a steak for fewer people than your party. Try the burger at lunch. Prime Rib Friday Lunch only. Cuisine – Steakhouse Location – Brooklyn, New York Opened – 1887 Service – Peter Luger had less gruffy service than we remembered. The waiters are all of the older […]
