It was interesting to see how authentic German food and restaurants in Munich compare to the ones we have in the San Francisco Bay Area. Below are several Munich restaurants we dined at. See our Tantris Review for a two Michelin Star Munich Restaurant. Wirtshaus In Der Au A loud, classic restaurant near our hotel with wooden tables and decor that included dungeon style lights. They do have an English menu. Hits: Bauernschmaus (€37.60 for 2 people) – Recommended by the waiters to most of the tourists like us. This is a massive combination plate with pig knuckle, roast pork, duck, sausages, several dumplings, two kinds of sauerkraut and a beer based sauce. This dish was large enough for four people. The sausages were some of the best we’ve had. The other items were okay, not foodie quality. We would recommend sticking to the sausages next time.
