Why did we dine here? – Lers Ros is a popular Thai restaurant in San Francisco with a newly opened location in Hayes valley. We have never dined here previously, so it was a good excuse to check out the new location. Lers Ros means “excellent taste of the food” in Sanskrit. Tom Silargorn is the owner and chef. Michael Bauer has this restaurant in his top 100 Bay Area restaurants for 2012. This review is the culmination of two visits. The restaurant is extremely noisy during peek times and also cramped. Last visit was in 2017. Insider Tip – There is usually a wait during peak periods. Cuisine – Thai Location – San Francisco, Hayes Valley Opened – 2012 Service – Lers Ros is a small restaurant with a good number of servers. We encountered decent service on our visit. Pretty surprising, but clearly they want to provide service on par with decor. Verdict – Lers Ros is a fine Thai restaurant with a wide variety of items and deserves to be visited when you are looking for Thai food. Some purist will say that the food here is a bit sweeter than it should be to suit American […]

Turtle Tower moved to a new nicer location on 220 California street. Why did we dine here? – Turtle Tower is a popular Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco with several locations. Hà Nội Style Vietnamese Cuisine is their focus. We dined at the original, located in the heart of the gritty Tenderloin District of San Francisco. It moved down the block and reopened in June 2013 and added banh mi sandwiches. Our last visit was in February 2014. Insider Tip – Bring cash. Go down the block and purchase some other Vietnamese food. Cuisine – Vietnamese Location – San Francisco Tenderloin Opened – 2000 Service – Turtle Tower had typical service for a mom and pop joint. The place is bigger now and you will probably need to hail down servers to get things done like the bill and getting refills. Verdict – Turtle Tower serves up inexpensive bowls of quality Pho. We found the Pho satisfying but not the best in the San Francisco Area. This original location is renowned by many to be their best location. We have found that Ben Tre in Millbrae and Pho Ao Sen in Oakland have better Pho. Turtle Tower Signature Dishes – […]
