This unlikely strip mall location (Next to Cost Plus World Market), houses a low key, authentic thin crust Neapolitan pizza place. We first learned about this place from a thread on Chowhound. As the waitress put it, these authentic pizzas cook for about 90 seconds in their 900° wood burning oven. Our last visit was Summer 2019. The place was very loud when it was filled up. Napoletana Menu Napoletana Pizzeria Menu has for salads, seven pasta dishes, and nine different pizzas. They will be missed. Long lines before they even opened. Una Pizza Napoletana is a new legendary pizza place in San Francisco’s Soma District. Pizzaiolo Anthony Mangieri closed up his New York shop last year and headed westward with his wife to open this restaurant in 2010, aka shrine to pizza making. Our last visit was in December 2017. Be sure to read our review of Pizzeria Starita and Da Michele in Naples Italy. The real deal. Starita has an outpost in NYC. All pizzas are 12 inch round and not pre-sliced. They feature 100% handmade Neapolitan pizza, from a wood-fired brick oven baked that dominates the room. This is Magnieri’s passion and it shows. Naturally Leavened, no condiments available, no substitutions, no alterations, just a salt shaker on the table. The dough takes 3 days work. Get what you get and you don’t make a fit. They close when he runs out of dough, usually about 930pm. Our last visit was in late 2017 right before they closed. Would you believe that Magnieri is allergic to flour? He has to take care as flour is one of his staples. Cuisine – Pizza […]

Best pizza in the world? Why did we dine here? – Da Michele is a legendary pizza place in Naples, Italy, established way back in 1870. We were here to explore the origins of Neapolitan pizza and had to give this legendary place a visit. Being major fans of pizza, dining at an authentic Restaurant like Da Michele was a pilgrimage. The recent book Eat, Pray, Love mention this place. Instead of waiting in line for a table, we decided to go inside and order a pizza to go. This is considerably faster. Insider Tip – Go early to avoid the lines. Take the Rick Steves Naples walk, it ends near Da Michele Cuisine – Napoli Location – Naples, Italy Opened – 1870 Service – Da Michele had reasonable service. The pizzas come out fast and they are used to serving a ton of people. Verdict – Da Michele serves up a stellar authentic experience that every pizza fanatic needs to try. We preferred the Margherita from Pizzeria Starita in Naples, but either is far superior to what we have in the San Francisco Bay Area. The closest pizza to this version would be Una Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco. […]
