Dalida gets its name from a few places. In Polish-Yiddish it means dahlia, the official flower of San Francisco, but its also chef’s mother’s name. The food is a little Turkish, a little Greek, Armenian, Jewish, Arabic and Persian. The couple also runs the Mexican Restaurant Maria Isabel. The chef Sayat Oyzilmaz worked at Blue Hill at Stone Barns and joined the Le Bernardin. He’s probably best known around SF in working at Noosh and leaving. (Yes we ate there when they were cooking) The food is geared towards eating family style. Dalida is divided into 2 areas, dining room and bar on one side. Open kitchen with counter and communal seating on the other. They tried to put us in the communal area even with a reservation on our first visit. The 2nd visit we ate in the dining room in 2026. Lunch on a Tuesday was pretty full. Food is exciting, not the usual fare you are used to seeing. Good place to eat with a larger party so you can sample more dishes. Service was fair. Waiter was not that up on the food and could not […]

They have expanded to four locations including Palo Alto, San Francisco and Mountain View. Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen is owned by Onur Alkanoglu and Yasar Bulutoglu, who are immigrants from Turkey that wanted to further Turkish cuisine into the Bay Area with the original San Mateo location. In 2020, Amir Hosseini joined the Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen team as a partner and helped open the Palo Alto, Mountain View, and San Francisco locations. Surprisingly decent Mediterranean food from a this restaurant. Far better than the other places in the vicinity. The folks are friendly and swear they have nothing to do with Sinbads that used to be here. Their fresh pita bread is a great change from some premade stuff. The menu is pretty wide ranging from hummus, typical appetizers, plates, wraps, and salads. They also have pastry and flatbreads: Lahmacun, Pide and more. Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen is now serving Turkish Breakfast at all locations on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. The brunch menu includes popular Turkish dishes such as Little Chefs Menemen, The Breakfast Board […]

Restaurant.com sells discounted Certificates for this restaurant. Tannourine restaurant is located in San Mateo’s 25th avenue shopping district, not far from the Fairgrounds and features the cuisine of Lebanon and the Mediterranean. They focus on offering: ” “meze”, “mezza” dining is an experience shared throughout the Mediterranean, where small savory plates of food are enjoyed in a convivial atmosphere, where friends and family join in the sharing of food and drink; in an unrushed, unhurried environment.” Our last meal here was in May 2012. We ordered their $25 Dinner Special for two, which includes Appetizers, Entree, Desserts. It is available Tuesday through Sunday between 5PM to 6:30PM. Check their website to verify availability, and check Yelp for any specials. Decor, Vibe – Moderate sized dining room with regional art and paintings on the wall. They have belly dancing on Saturday nights. A blend of races and ages were eating dinner from families to older couples. Tannourine Menu (Click to zoom into any picture) Website Tannourine Menu Picks: Pita Bread Complimentary Hot Pita bread with Yogurt, olive oil dipping sauce was excellent. Tangy Greek style yogurt and top notch pita bread had us asking for seconds, thirds.. Can’t over do it […]
