It is one of our favorite places as it is pretty consistent.. Always a candidate for the short list of best restaurants. It earned One Michelin Stars last in 2015 and lost it after. Nancy Oakes open Boulevard, a New American/French comfort food restaurant way back in 1993. She opened nearby Prospect in 2010. Alumni Ravi Kapor now runs Liholiho Yacht Club. Our last visit was in the summer of 2026 where we found the food quality still very good. Boulevard’s busy Kitchen in Action Boulevard Decor, Vibe – Pat Kuleto design with an “intimate Belle Epoque aesthetic”. Cool ceiling in the front, with thin bricks adorning the ceiling. Couples, business people, and groups were all enjoying the fine food. The decor was updated in 2021 before they re-open during the pandemic. Boulevard has been voted most popular by the old Zagat’s guide for years. The place was packed when we entered at 6pm. If you don’t have a reservation, you can get a seat at the bar or better yet, the kitchen counter, while they last. If you […]

Price are high (About 40% more than Hong Kong Lounge), but this should be no surprise with this location. It has extra ordinary views and is next door to the steakhouse restaurant Epic Roasthouse. They are both part of the vast Kuleto Restaurant empire. Waterbar has several meat entrees for those forced to dine here. The use local and sustainable seafood. We first ate here in 2008 and returned in summer 2025. Decor, Vibe – Pat Kuleto is a master restaurant designer and has created 175 restaurants including Boulevard, Jardinere and many other restaurants. This place has several impressive floor to ceiling aquariums which add to the dynamic atmosphere. Views are fantastic, even better than next door. Folks from their 30’s to 60’s were dining. Many larger parties. Business people after work were hanging out in the beautiful bar area. WaterBar Menu The WaterBar menu has lots of seafood options as expected. Good options for meat eater and just a couple for vegetarians. Website Menu Waterbar service was not great when we went. It took almost 3 hours for our meal with delays. They ended up comp’ing us a bunch of items. Obviously prices are inflated by the expensive architecture and the views. Food Review Dos Flores […]

Why did we dine here? – Coqueta (Spanish for flirt or infatuation) is a new restaurant from Michael Chiarello of Bottega, Napastyle fame. This time he focuses on Spain’s signature ‘small plates’ from Madrid, Catalonia, the Basque Country and beyond. We loved Bottega so giving this place a try was a no brainer. They are located a couple piers down from the Ferry Building. Take a walk after dinner and burn off the calories. Insider Tip – Make reservation or hit the meat market bar area.

The Slanted Door is a famous modern Vietnamese restaurant located in San Francisco’s Ferry Building. Legendary chef Charles Phan’s empire includes several Out the Door restaurants and Hard Water. He failed at Heaven’s Dog and Wo Hing General Store. They use a lot of local, organic, sustainable ingredients and focus on essentially California cuisine with the Vietnamese influence. The original modest Slanted Door opened in 1995 on Valencia Street. Lots of positive reviews, celebrity visits, and presidential visits propelled this place to stardom. Slanted Door relocated to the Ferry Building in 2004, helping make this place a foodie haven. This restaurant is still very popular, be sure to make reservations way in advance. Decor, Vibe – The Slanted Door has a large lounge and glass bar area with futuristic backless chairs up front, where those without reservations can order a full menu. Outside patio dining for warmer days, a booth seating area, large open kitchen, rescued wood tables and chairs. Slanted Door was busy, loud, and filled with well-dressed diners and some obvious tourists. Menu Daily changing Menu has a wide variety of items from raw bar to spring rolls to noodles to meat, poultry, seafood, to sides. Decent variety […]
