Chef Timothy Hollingsworth formerly of French Laundry has create a restaurant that: Adjacent to one of Los Angeles’ most important cultural corridors — Grand Avenue — and next to its newest, most vibrant addition, the contemporary art museum, The Broad, Otium strips away the rigid formalities of dining while focusing on the quality of food, warm service, and relaxed casual ambiance, paralleling the true essence of its name. Insider Tip &#8211; Reserve ahead Cuisine &#8211; New American Location &#8211; Downtown LA Opened &#8211; 2015 Service &#8211; Otium Verdict &#8211; Otium is a cool restaurant that is conveniently located. Definitely hit it for a meal after The Broad. The food is definitely on cutting edge. 4% surcharge for insurance. Subway station was being built right across the street on our visit in 2019! Is this restaurant worth a 5 minute drive? Yes. 30 minute? Maybe. 1 Hour? Maybe. Otium Signature Dishes &#8211; Many Otium&#8217;s Menu changes all the time and has several options [&#8230;]</p>

This is Chef Neal Fraser and Amy Knoll Fraser’s flagship restaurant is a follow up to popular Grace and BLD. Historic former rectory building of Vibiana – the cathedral-turned-event-venue. Insider Tip &#8211; Do not sit in the lounge! Cuisine &#8211; New American Location &#8211; Downtown LA Opened &#8211; 2014 Service &#8211; Redbird started with decent service, which unfortunately faded as the night went on. Perhaps it is partly due to being situated at the lounge room. Verdict &#8211; Redbird brings us mixed feelings. This restaurant is expensive. Most of the dishes were right on, but the service pulled things down. It is worth trying if you like this type of food. Good, but we loved Bestia far more. Is this restaurant worth a 5 minute drive? Yes. 30 minute? Maybe. 1 Hour? Maybe.
