Birch Street is a French-Californian bistro in the California Avenue shopping district of Palo Alto. The focus on local, organic, and sustainable ingredients from the local farmers market. They use to be known as Bistro Elan and were located around the corner. The new restaurant is fairly small and much more casual. We liked the old restaurant, so it was a no brainer to give this one a try. Decor, Vibe – Birch Street has simple decor, pictures on the wall, a large clean, open kitchen, and has beautiful dining area in the front sidewalk patio. Most of the folks dining or in the 30s to 50s and many were well dressed. The place was fairly quiet during lunch time. Menu Birch Street Menu changes regularly, they have a small variety to select from. Not a lot of options for vegetarians Picks: La Quecia Prosciutto, kashiwase peaches, feta, olive oil, & lemon ($14.25) hit the spot on this warm summer day. Fresh sweet peaches contrasted nicely with the savory prosciutto. Pan Seared Tuna, tomato, watermelon, dill, spicy paprika dressing ($16.75) was highly recommended by our server and definitely is worth ordering. More sweet, savory action along with some tender tuna. […]
