Just get a microsim and you’re off. Switch it back when you leave.
But: be warned CM still has no 3G. Out the door it was 150 rmb for 2gb/month. Not making calls. You can hardly load the weather….the network is useless if you’re going to using maps, apps, etc. useless.
CU had me on a smaller plan out the door for 100 rmb. But I used it up in 2 days. Speed was excellent.
These phone carriers aren’t on every corner, so it’s kind of a pain finding them. Bring your passport!!! Or no card!
Tomorrow I’m returning this POS CM card.

I only go for a week or so, every couple of months.

It sounds like I can call China Mobile and enable a data plan on this same SIM. Can I turn the data plan on and off (to avoid paying 20 RMB/month for a data plan when I’m not in China for a couple months)?
