L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas Exterior Decor

L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon is a ‘less’ formal restaurant from “Chef of the Century” Joël Robuchon. He has more Michelin stars than any other chef in the world. This restaurant is located on the Las Vegas Strip in the MGM Grand, right next door to the more formal Joël Robuchon at the Mansion restaurant. This restaurant received One Michelin star. Elegant French food is created right in front of you and served on the counter or on one of the surrounding tables. Our meal at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon was right before a show, so we tried their new low cost pre show menu.

Decor, Vibe – Just off the Casino floor, this Beautiful restaurant has black polished floors, shelves of pickled vegetables, bright red seating, long wrap around counter, loud bluesy music, and table seating. Lots of folks from a convention were dining.

Picks:

L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas Bread

Excellent freshly made bread and French butter.

L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas Rasberry Mojito

Framboise Mojito ($15) or raspberry mojito was red, strong, and fruity.

L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas L Unique Three course Dinner

L’Unique 3 course Dinner ($39 each) Pre Theatre express menu available daily until 6:45pm. Select from 1 of 2 items for appetizer, entree, and dessert. We all six items.

Le Choux Fleur – Lightly Creamed Cauliflower veloute with croutons was of decent size, creamy and full of vegetable flavor.

L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas Steamed egg

L’oeuf – Poached Steamed egg on citrus vegetables was hidden in foam. Excellent quality egg with tons of yolk.

L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas Halibut Fillet

Le Fletan – Halibut filet with eggplant caviar and watercress was foiled wrapped and not as good as our Turbot at Twist. It was still decent but on the spicy side.

L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas Sweetbreads

Le Ris de Veau – Sweetbread fricasse with mushroom and capers had a nice tender crispy texture and was barely filling.

L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas coconut mousse

La Noix De Coco – Light coconut mousse, Tahitian vanilla pineapple infusion and a pear sauce was a nice tiny dessert with very light mousse.

Le Mont Blanc – Crisy meringue, chestnut cream and chantilly was very smooth but hard to eat.

L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas Le Langoustine

Le Langoustine ($22) Crispy langoustine fritter with basil pesto was a two bite tiny wonder. Excellent thin crust wrapper and fresh lobster.

L Atelier de Joel Robuchon Las Vegas Le Caille Quial

Le Caille ($28 appetizer size) Foie gras stuffed free range quail with truffled mashed potatoes was tiny but had a very nice crust on the quail. Silky smooth mashed potatoes.

L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon had solid service but not outstanding service as we had to hail the waiter several times. The $39 special is cheap but limited in quantities. It provides a low cost and good introduction to the world of haute cuisine. The food here is very good, but very pricey. Selecting at least the $85 tasting menu is the best bet here. Ordering a la carte gets expensive, fast. L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon will give you a taste of what high end haute cusine is like in 3 star food temples around the world.
27 page wine list with bottles of wine from $25, glasses from $12.
