Michael Bauer’s 2018 Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants has been published.

The annual list from the Foodie god, concentrates on fine dining restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. We notice that they’re a lot more restaurants in the North Bay – Wine Country and very few restaurants on the San Francisco Peninsula, very few Ethnic places ie Asian and Indian restaurants. My partner is involved with the IfOnly website, which features chefs and owners from a number of Bay Area restaurants..

He added the following restaurants to the Top 100:

Omissions from the Michael Bauer Top 100 List 2018

His list is extremely weak on restaurants from the San Francisco Peninsula and South Bay. Some restaurants we believe should be on the top list include:

Capannina – Neighborhood Italian

Capo’s – Chicago style Italian

Chapeau! – Neighborhood gem and one of our favorites

Harris, San Francisco – Classic old school Steakhouse

Keiko – They even have a Michelin Star

Kirala, Berkeley – East Bay’s reference Japanese, not Izakaya

Koi Palace – Even with sad looking tanks, they serve the best Chinese food

Plumed Horse, Saratoga – One of the South Bay’s best

Spruce, San Francisco – Seems to be always full

Sushi Yoshizumi – Best sushi palace in SF Bay Area?

Tamarine, Palo Alto – Vietnamese Fusion done right

The House, San Francisco – Consistently some of the best food in San Francisco. Bauer is crazy to have missed this one.

The Kitchen – Classic Chinese done right

Michael Mina, San Francisco – Did he forget this place?

Tony’s Pizza Napoletana, San Francisco – Pizza, Pizza, Pizza

Village Pub, Woodside – Peninsula’s best restaurant?

Wakuriya – They even have a Michelin Star

Places we would remove from the Top 100 List from Bauer in 2018

Michael Bauer is pretty spot on, but falters around some ethnic cuisine. Restaurants that we would removed from this list:
