Better Italian than SF? Why did we dine here? – Angelini Osteria has long been dubbed the best Italian restaurant in LA. We finally made time to dine at this small, cozy restaurant near the end of 2016. Yes, we did see a celebrity dining there. Our timing allowed us to catch them when Truffles were all over the menu! (Big$$)
Insider Tip – Reserve the Uni Linguine ahead of time
Cuisine – Italian
Location – Fairfax District, Los Angeles
Opened – 2005
Service – Angelini Osteria had decent service. Not an overabundance of servers, so the service can only be so good. Waitress knew the menu, pacing was good, no need to chase servers.
Verdict – Angelini Osteria is very strong in pasta. We would love to come back and try some of the other dishes. (In addition to the pasta)
LA has some strong Italian Restaurants. After eating at Bestia, Mozza, we have to say that they are superior to the ones in the SF Bay Area.
Is this restaurant worth a 5 minute drive? Yes. 30 minute? Yes. 1 Hour? Maybe.
Angelini Osteria Signature Dishes – Lasagna, Uni Pasta, Branzino

Angelini Osteria Food Picks:
Fantastic Complimentary flatbred with minestrone like dip
Caprese ($16) fresh burrata, market tomatoes, aged balsamic, basil oil was good and fresh. Could have used a bit more cheese.
Maine Lobster Salad ($24) Honey Crispy Apples, Pomegranate, mixed greens, citrus dressing is almost big enough for a lunch entree. Lots of fresh lobster with contrasting fruit making it refreshing.
Linguine, Santa Barbara Sea Urchin, Garlic, Chives ($32) is an eggless pasta topped with Uni. Fantastic. Thick sauce full of uni flavor. Wow.
Norcina ($45) Homemade Spaghetti Chitarra alla Norcina, Black Summer Truffles, Sausage, Parmigiano Reggiano has the truffles shaved tableside. Signature dish that is working dying for. Rich, lots of flavor.
OK: (Order if you like this dish)
Pizza Bianca, Sausage, Pesto, Bocconcini ($18) was ok, but the pasta far overshadowed it.
Pans: (We would not reorder these dishes)
None
