Reviewer: Foodnut.com Chabaa Thai 2123 Irving Street San Francisco, CA 94122 415-753-3347 |
Why did we dine here? – Chabaa Thai is a Thai Restaurant in San Francisco’s Sunset District. We happened to be in the area, shopping at the great produce store next door. Looking on Yelp, nearby Marnee Thai and Chabaa are both rated four star for Thai. This restaurant does a lot of to-go business. Be sure to try Kin Khao.
Insider Tip – Stick to the secret Thai menu
Cuisine – Thai
Location – San Francisco, Sunset District
Service – Chabaa Thai had fair service. There were long periods when a server was not near by. About what we expected for a place like this.
Verdict – Chabaa Thai serves up solid Thai Cuisine. If you are in the outer Sunset and want Thai, give this a try. Marnee maybe slightly better. We still like the Lers Ros in Hayes Valley better.
Chabaa Thai Signature Dishes – Curries, Pad Thai, Fried Rice, Noodle Soup.
Chabaa Thai’s Menu is pretty extensive. They have a normal menu and a secret Thai menu. We tried to stick to the secret menu.
Chabaa Thai Food Picks:
Duck Larb ($10.25) cooked and seasoned with onions, mint leaves, roasted rice powder, and Thai chili with spicy lime dressing. Served on a bed of lettuce. This was one of the better duck salads we’ve had in a long time. Reasonable amount of heat, along with sour notes, a must get in our books.
Pumpkin Curry ($8.95) yellow curry, Kabocha squash cubes, chicken was also a very good dish. Rich curry flavors, not too creamy, and lots of chicken.
Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango ($5.45) hit the spot. Fresh mango along with some not too sweet sticky rice.
OK: (Order if you like this dish)
None
Pans: (We would not reorder these dishes)
Basil fried rice ($8.95) with beef was just not worth ordering. Super spicy and low quality beef. Hopefully the chicken version is better.
