Why did we dine here? – Capo’s is owned by Tony of Tony’s Pizza fame. We had to give his new place a try, being big pizza and Italian fans. This place transports you back to the old days with red leather booths, exposed brick, and old school antiques.
Cash Only.

Insider Tip – No reservations, so be prepared to wait.

Cuisine – Italian
Location – San Francisco North Beach
Opened – 2012

Service – Capo’s had above average service, with servers coming by every so often. The waitress made it easy to navigate the menu and added a friendly touch.
Verdict – Capo’s is a great place for people that love pizza and old school Italian food. Beware that portion sizes are high, so you might have to loosen your belt.

Capo’s Signature Dishes – Deep Dish Pizza, Lasagna

Capo’s’s Menu features 8 pizza’s available in 4 different cooking styles, several pasta dishes, several entrees and appetizers. The drink menu looks very interesting.

Capo’s Food Picks:

Capos San Francisco pasta fagoli soup

Complimentary pasta fagoli soup was zesty and a bit salty.

Capos San Francisco garlic bread

Garlic Bread ($3.95) was plentiful, very greasy, and topped off with cloves of garlic. Good stuff.

Capos San Francisco lasagna

Wood Fired Meat Lasagna ($15) was huge and very cheesy. Cooked just right, filled with egg noodles, and very filling. Make sure you keep some room for Pizza though.

Capos San Francisco Sam Giancana deep dish pizza

Sam Giancana ($26) Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Provolone, House Honey Calabrese Sausage, Chicago Italian Sausage, Garlic, Oregano & Romano was a huge deep dish pizza topped off with a ton of tomatoes. Really nice ingedients, a thin bottom and a thick crust. Not as buttery or corn-mealy as Zachary’s or Paxti. Definitely give this one a try. It does take 45 minutes of bake time.

Capos San Francisco margherita pizza cracker thin crust

Margherita ($19) Mozzarella, Provolone, Tomato Sauce, Garlic, Basil, Oregano, Romano in a cracker thin crust was a departure from other Margherita Pizza’s we’ve tried. The crust was super thin, slightly burnt underneath and very crispy. The pizza was cut into squares. A nice contrast to the deep dish pizza.

    Hi!

Capo’s is hosting a special event that is basically an adult pizza party 🙂 Award-winning bartender Elmer Majicanos will be teaching guests how to make two of Capo’s signature whiskey cocktails which guests then get to enjoy (along with a third they don’t make) while eating a variety of Capo’s pizzas on three of their crusts (cracker thin, deep dish, cast iron) and some of Tony’s famous meatballs 🙂 You can check it out here: http://www.simmr.co/capos

We would love for you to join us!
