Why did we dine here? – K & L Bistro used to have a Michelin Star but got demoted to Bib Gourmand status. We were staying in a hotel right near this restaurant, so a good excuse to give it a try.
Insider Tip – Go for lunch to save.
Cuisine – French, American
Location – Sebastopol, CA
Opened – 2001
Service – K & L Bistro had reasonable service for a fairly empty restaurant, although the server got carried away with chatting to a coworker far too long.
Verdict – K & L Bistro served up very good food. This city is quite small, so there are not many great options. One could drive 20 minutes and hit The Farmhouse for much better cuisine, at higher prices.
K & L Bistro Signature Dishes – Steak Frites, Flat Iron Steak
K & L Bistro’s Menu changes from time to time and includes some daily specials.
K & L Bistro Food Picks:
House made Charcuterie Plate, rabbit salami, crispy pig’s trotter terrine, pickles, grilled bread ($12.50) was decent but we expected a wider variety of items.
French Onion Soup Gratinée ($10.00) possessed a nice cheese crust and some piping hot soup.
Mesquite Grilled Creekstone Flat Iron, chimichurri, crispy fingerling potatoes, padron peppers ($25.50) was recommended by our server. The meat was cooked to a nice medium rare, but the sauce was a bit salty.
Pappardelle Pasta special ($20.50) proved to be a very nice pasta with a long simmered sugo.
Peach and Pistachio Crisp ($9) was topped off with a scoop of ice cream. Nice crisp and nutty crust. Not to sweet.
