La Cumbre Mexican Restaurant has a location in San Francisco and San Mateo. We tried the one in San Mateo, located near Caltrain. They have everything from burritos to tacos to caldos to plates. The San Francisco location has a lines often times.

Izakaya Mai is a Japanese Izakaya or Japanese drinking establishment that also serves food. They are more small plate oriented restaurants. This restaurant has an extensive drink menu.

Espetus Churrascaria is a Brazilian steakhouse serving Rodizio style food. They focus on meats straight from the fire brought to your table continuously. You can stop the meat parade by flipping the table card to red. They have a salad and hot plate bar with lots of different options including asparagus, bean salad, eggplant, rice, beans, cod, and much more. Do not eat too much of this stuff otherwise you wonder have room for all the meat.

Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria Restaurant Review

This local chain has 10 locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. We reviewed the San Mateo location. They use brick ovens and use the slogan “A taste of New York” Amici’s serves pizza, Pasta, Salads, and Sandwiches. People come for the pizza, so we went straight to the draw.

Kingfish is a fun New Orleans/Southern focused restaurant in San Mateo. They had a location in San Francisco but that closed.. The place is prime draw for this sleepy suburb as it is around the corner from the Century Theaters and is one of the few places that stays open late. They use the slogan “San Francisco’s Most Awarded Pizza” North Beach Pizza serves pizza, Pasta, Salads, and Sandwiches. People come for the pizza, so we went straight to the draw. They have a huge delivery business.

At the end of September 2008, the place changed owners and has a new menu and slightly different Chinese Food. Name of the place is still the same. Need to give them a couple months to get settled. Updated review forthcoming. In the meantime visit nearby Little Shanghai.

The Noodle Shop is a Chinese noodle shop in the San Mateo 25th Ave retail district. It is the sister restaurant to Shanghai Dumpling House in Millbrae.
They specialize in dumplings and noodle dishes. Lunch specials are available, as are special items on weekends.
