Shabuway is a Japanese hot pot restaurant in San Mateo that opened in 2004.  They also have a location in Mountain View. A new location is coming to San Jose in late 2010. You cook vegetables and thinly sliced beef at your table in a your own boiling pot of water. Shabuway does not take reservations and insists all folks are present when names are called. Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot and Grill is a hot pot restaurant in downtown San Mateo, right across from Walgreen’s. Their soup base options have recently become more acceptable for mainstream Americans.  This company has a couple locations in the USA and many more in Asia. Yum Brands (KFC, Taco Bell) actually partly owns this company. Chinese hot pot is a fun meal where a pot of boiling broth at your table is used to cook meats, vegetables, and seafood. Cooking involves dipping the food in the boiling broth for 30 seconds to a couple minutes. They also have some pre-cooked BBQ and Rice, Dumpling, Pancake items on the menu. Our last visit was at the end of 2011 for dinner.

Shabu House is a Japanese Beef Fondue restaurant with locations in San Francisco and Burlingame. Shabu Shabu is a Japanese culinary dish which inspired from the Mongolian tradition of nabemono, or “one pot” cooking. In traditional shabu shabu, thin slices of beef are placed in a communal pot of boiling water and swished back and forth until cooked. Prime Rib Shabu is a new hot pot or fondue restaurant in San Francisco’s inner Richmond district. You cook raw meats and veggies by dipping them in a boiling pot of chicken broth. Chinese Name: 南门涮肉

Nan Men Hot Pot is a popular Islamic hot pot restaurant in Beijing, with 8 locations. We ate at the Chaoyang District location that is across the street from Embassy row and a couple blocks from the Silk Market and subway station Guomao. The specialize in individualized ornate blue hot pots used to cook meat, seafood, and vegetables. They like to emphasize the health benefits of particular items and love to show off their ISO certifications.
