Since 1958, Yank Sing has been specializing in Chinese Dim Sum. They now have 2 locations, both in the San Francisco Financial District. We visited the smaller Stevenson street location, situated in an alley just off 2nd street. This location has fewer items, but is known for rapid fire service. Yank Sing is known for quality dim sum at high prices.

Gitane Restaurant and Bar is a “modern, funky, and artistically bold restaurant” in downtown San Francisco in a hidden alley. It focuses on Basque small plates or tapas. One Market Restaurant opened in 1993, and was a big event marking star chef Bradley Ogden’s return to the City. We have not been back in probably 10 years, so it was time to try it again. Open in 1935, this place is a North Beach institution that seems to have a line every day
from 530pm onwards. It is an old school Italian eatery that hasn’t changed much. Big communal table down the middle. A small basement eatery with old fashion decor and yellow lighting, this is a classic and full of tourists. They are well know for their wood-fired brick oven pizza. Read the rest of this entry »
Another trendy fancy burger place… This one is a small one located in the shadow of the tall Bank of America building. It closed and their new location is at 1 Market Plaza. They serve mini burgers (ala White Castle) to go, and they have no place to sit. Their claim to fame is fresh 100% all natural Angus beef, cast iron skillets, oven baked buns.
