Fenton’s Creamery has been around since 1922 in Oakland. They produce their own ice cream and toppings batch by batch on site. They serve breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, salads, but the main draw is of course, ice cream. Their creations are simply huge. Even the kid’s ice creams are huge. Our last visit was to the Nut Tree Vacaville location.

Shangri-La Li Cafe Buffet is located in the Shangri-La hotel in beautiful Guilin, China. Guilin is famous for its unique scenery featuring beautiful limestone rock formations and the Li river delta. This area is a mecca for Chinese tourists and needs to be on more Western travel destinations.

Polker’s Gourmet Burgers is located on the outskirts of Russian Hill in the Polk Street neighborhood shopping district.
This restaurant is very popular for breakfast. You will see lines out the door, most weekend mornings. We came for the burger, but they serve lots of other food. Read the rest of this entry »

Boulettes Larder is located in the San Francisco Ferry Building and means – “Glimpse into the heart of a working, professional kitchen framed by a retail counter where personal attention is offered by a skilled and responsive staff. A useful, compelling and charming epicerie with discriminatingly selected ingredients prepared to varying degrees of time-saving readiness.”
They have everything from chicken stock to cookies to rack of lamb. They have food to go (Pastries, Lunch, Dinner items) all the time, and table service with a different menus, Mon through Fri, and Sunday. We went there on a Saturday. Read the rest of this entry »

First Awakenings is a restaurant in Pacific Grove near the Monterey Bay Aquarium that serves Breakfast, Brunch, and Lunch. They are located in the Outlet center. We wanted to find a cheaper less touristy place for breakfast. They serve breakfast items as well as salads, burgers, and sandwiches. We had to wait 30 minutes to get in as the place was packed.

A burger place that has been there since 1958 that also serves classic American breakfast. They have two locations in downtown San Jose, right near the major destination including the Children’s museum, The Tech museum, and San Jose State. They push their USDA lean 100% Angus Beef.
