Armadillo Willys is a local BBQ restaurant with 8 locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was started in 1988 and offers ‘real Texas barbecue’ cooked over a wood fire. Restaurant Lulu is a classic San Francisco favorite that has been around since 1993. They are well known for their Oak Fired Rotisserie items and deserved a revisit. Lulu’s was once our favorite restaurant, many, many meals ago. We had last been here about five years ago.

San Dong House BBQ is a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco that focuses on hand pulled noodles and late-night snacks including 22 types of skewers, some an acquired taste. The restaurant is open late, till 3 AM, and even has beer by the pitcher!

Napoletana Pizzeria is a new Naples style pizzeria in Mountain View. This unlikely strip mall location houses a pretty authentic thin crust Neapolitan pizza place. We first learned about this place from a thread on Chowhound. As the waitress put it, these authentic pizzas cook for about 90 seconds in their 900° wood burning oven.

flour + water is a wildly popular Italian restaurant in the Mission district of San Francisco. They focus on hand rolled pastas, house cured meats, and an Italian pizza oven. The chef, Thomas McNaughton is a veteran of La Folie, Gary Danko, Quince. They take reservations and reserve half the place for walk ins, causing a line to form 20 min. before the place even opens.

When we get asked, “where do we get the dim sum in Chinatown?” The answer usually is.. Great Eastern Restaurant has been serving Cantonese Chinese food in this location for many years. They serve dim sum during lunch and traditional items during dinner. We visited for dim sum lunch lunch, early on a weekend day. Great Eastern Dinner was reviewed on a separate visit. Baume Restaurant Review, Palo Alto

Baumé is a French Cuisine Moderne restaurant that uses a lot of molecular gastronomy techniques. The restaurant is named after the pioneering French chemist Antoine Baume. They recently received one Michelin star for 2011. Bruno Chemel was well respected at his last restaurant and also earned a Michelin star there.
