    Why did we dine here? – Osteria Mozza is a popular Southern California Italian restaurant run by Chef Nancy Silverton in partnership with Mario Batali. We had it on our short list for our recent trip to LA.

    Insider Tip – Make reservations well in advance

    Osteria Mozza LA Interior Decor

    Service – Osteria Mozza has very good service with a friendly server and informed suggestions.
    Verdict – Osteria Mozza lived up to its hype. Their pasta can run with any place in San Francisco. This is a must visit for Italian fans in the area. Parking can be a pain.

    Osteria Mozza Signature Dishes – Burrata, Pasta, Octopus

    Osteria Mozza’s Menu is pretty extensive with many salads, Mozzarella options, pastas, entrees. $69 pasta tasting menu.

    Osteria Mozza Food Picks:
    Mojito ($12) was strong and on the tart side.

    3 very nicely done house breads

    Amuse of creamy ricotta spread on crisp toast.

    Osteria Mozza LA Grilled Octopus

    Grilled Octopus with potatoes, celery & lemon ($21) is a signature dish and featured very char’d fresh tentacles tastily arranged.

    Osteria Mozza LA Gem Lettuce Salad

    Sweet Gem Lettuce with bufala mozzarella, cucumber & yogurt ($18) made it easy to get some cheese without having to select one! Tart dressing, crunchy cucumbers, very fresh and smooth moz.

    Osteria Mozza LA Garganelli

    Garganelli with ragĂș Bolognese ($20) was a dry, eggless spaghetti like pasta that proved to be stellar. A perfect al dente. The 12-15 hr ragu was rich and meaty.

    Osteria Mozza LA Tagliatelle Verde

    Tagliatelle Verde with lamb ragu, olive Taggiasche & mint ($21) was very good. Another awesome sauce with freshly made, wide green strips of al dente noodles.

    Romanesco Cauliflower & red onion with mint yogurt ($10) featured very soft and char’d veggies with some slices of onion.

    Osteria Mozza LA Cheese Formaggi Stagionati

    FORMAGGI STAGIONATI ($12) was Excellent. A wide range of types along with solid accompaniments. Selection included:

    Quadrello di Bufala
    Lombardia: buffalo milk
    Caprino Cremoso al Tartufo Nero
    Piemonte: goat’s milk
    Robiola Bosina
    Piemonte: cow & sheep’s milk

    Osteria Mozza LA Gelato Sorbetto

    Dark Chocolate Gelato – Blood Orange Sorbetto ($10) was homemade and it showed. Refreshing and large scoops.
