Why did we dine here? – Casserole House is a Korean restaurant in Oakland’s Korea town area. We have been slowly sampling different restaurants in this area.

Insider Tip – The casseroles are good for two or more people, so bring a group.

Cuisine – Korean
Location – Oakland, Temescal neighborhood
Opened – 2008

Casserole House Oakland Interior Decor

Service – Casserole House had marginal service, classic Korean restaurant drop and go. We had to badger them to get items and the check.
Verdict – Casserole House served up very good Korean cuisine in decent surroundings. We wish the service could be better. Other nearby Korean restaurants include Sura and Pyung.

Signature Dishes – Casseroles

Casserole House’s Menu features 8 different large casseroles as well as the Korean mainstays that most people are accustomed to.

Picks:

Casserole House Oakland Vegetable Pancake

Complimentary vegetable pancake with potatoes, onions, carrots. Crisp outside, soft interior.

Casserole House Oakland Panchan

Pan chan consisted of 9 very good side dishes with free refills.

Casserole House Oakland Rib Soup

Soon Tofu ($10.95) soft tofu soup with beef was very good with real sliced beef, something missing from many versions.

Casserole House Oakland Kalbi BBQ Short Ribs

Kalbi ($18.95) broiled short ribs marinated in house special sauce came to us sizzling hot, but lacking char marks. The meat was decent but not excellent. Kalbi fans should go elsewhere, because their specialties lie elsewhere.

Casserole House Oakland Bibimbab

Bibimbab ($11.95) with assorted vegetables, egg, and beef over rice came to us sizzling hot and proved to be excellent. A must-get for fans of this dish.

Casserole House Oakland Soon Tofu

Woo Guh Ji Kal Bi Tang ($10.95) soup containing assorted vegetables and short ribs. A good sized bowl filled with spicy soup and tender meat, napa cabbage and other vegetables. Good for cold winter nights.

    cool site.

wanted to point out your two soup pictures are reversed. the last one (with egg) is the Soon Dubu, the first one with cabbage & sprouts is the Woo Guh Ji Kalbi Tang.

    cheers.
